Artist of the Beautiful is the debut album from independent artists Shawn and Megan Dickinson. Featuring Megan's memorable voice and Shawn's talent for writing, the album is an exceptional introduction to these acoustic-pop songwriters from the Midwest and establishes them as a new voice in the independent scene.
Co-produced by the group, Artist of the Beautiful features ten songs, including eight originals and two songs written by Charlie Hall (Give Us Clean Hands, Passion) and Brad Kilman (We are Hungry). Lyrically, the collection of songs on Artist of the Beautiful focus on subjects ranging from relationships to faith. "These songs capture the last nine months of our life," says Shawn. "We write about what comes naturally, and most times that involves relationships of some kind." Some highlights of the album include the title track "Artist of the Beautiful", piano-ballad "The Weary", and "Stay Awake Baby".
Married since August of 2005, Shawn and Megan have been actively traveling and playing across the Midwest. Although they are fairly new to the music scene, they have already begun to make an impact. In the summer of 2006, they were invited to the Smoky Hill River Festival and entertained a crowd of over 10,000 people. The release of Artist of the Beautiful represents a new step for the group as they pursue music full-time and travel more extensively.
"This album is only the beginning," says Megan. "We hope that people will take the time to listen."
