Holed up in the western hills just north of San Francisco, California, the Smokehouse Gamblers emerged in early January 2005 loaded with an ammo box of atomic americana and indie rock songs.
Smokehouse Gamblers have four albums under their belt: "Blood on the Ladder" (2005) recorded at Grizzly Studios, Petaluma, CA; "Tales from The Seven Seas" (2006) Type Foundry Studios, Portland, OR; "War Comes in Roses" (2009); and "Derailed By Nature" (2012) both recorded at Old School Studio, Caspar, CA. The tune "Whale Train" (Blood on the Ladder) was included in the Ed Harris movie "Touching Home," and numerous songs have been picked up and used radio ads for the Lagunitas Brewing Company.
The most recent release "Derailed By Nature" was recorded during a January rain storm on the Mendocino County coastline in northern California by artist, producer, engineer Calvin Turnbull, who has worked with many platinum selling artists including: Leon Russell, The English Beat, Booker T., Sheryl Crow, Neil Diamond, Melisa Etheridge, Five For Fighting, Rusted Root, Gene Parsons, and Bill Bottrell.
It's a genre-bending, multi recipe album with tracks mixing americana, rock, folk and mayhem with homegrown herbs, Simcoe hops and whiskey malts. When it's all said and done, you hear the van pull out; the boys casing the neighborhood for good vittles and beer.
