Album Notes
Charlottesville Virginia's original country rock band, Sons of Bill, was started by three brothers in the fall of 2005. In The previous year, all three brothers were at very different stages in their lives: One a grad student in Maryland, one attending college on a cattle ranch in Nevada, and one a gigging musician in NYC, it seemed as though their musical ventures together would be limited to the Wilson family room during Holidays. But while away, they all felt the need to get back to their roots, get back home to Virginia, and get back to the music they grew up with. While visiting one another in an apartment in Brooklyn, Sam and James began to play the songs they knew in common, the old country songs their father, Bill Wilson, had taught them when they were first learning to play. At that moment they decided to start a band, with its roots in traditional country, while not denying the rock influences they had accumulated in various bands over the years. With middle brother Abe on keys and banjo, and the addition of Seth Green on bass, Sons of Bill was set. The boys soon recorded their first full-length record "A Far Cry From Freedom," which has been receiving airplay throughout the country, and under gone several pressings to keep up with the ever increasing demand. All the while Sons of Bill has been touring hard, packing houses locally and gaining fans regionally at colleges and clubs up and down the east coast.

Loved it !!
I really love this CD, It does not come out of my cd player!! I saw these guys at Cattle Annie's and they were bad ass!! I am going to see them again soon.

Roll on Sons of Bill
This CD rocks! There is not a bad song on it. Gravel-voiced James Wilson is perfectly matched with the CD's deceptively engaging country lyrics.

Far Cry From Freedom
We heard about Son's of Bill from an up coming Reckless Kelly Concert that is scheduled in February 2009. We purchased the CD to become familuar with their music and can't stop playing the CD. We really look forward to seeing them at Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa, Fl with Reckless. Excellent CD - Can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Really Great Album!
I really like their sound! It's down to earth--not overly synthesized or dubbed over. Just a GREAT clean honest sound!!!!!!!

a great find
My friend introduced me to this band when she heard Back To The Time on the radio and told me I had to hear it. I did, loved it, and bought the album. It's a winner. Not a dud on the disc. And the country-flavored sound will make you want to do nothing but listen to music while drinking beer on your front porch for the rest of your life. Good stuff.

Awesome CD
I heard Sons of Bill live and told myself, I have to buy their CD. Now I can listen to their great sound all the time. I introduced the CD in the camp here in Switzerland and I wasn't the only one who loves this mix of Rock and Country.

very good!
I like the cd a lot. Some very original sounds, and well-polished. A good mix between country and rock. Some vocals sound a little like the stones, some like elliot smith. I really like the softer-vocaled songs. All the songs roll along very well.

...and some vocals a little like crash test dummies.

Great new sound
The CD is sweet, reccommend buying it.
