ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Tara Mizrachi has woven these excerpts from the Jewish prayerbook, in a way that is both inspiring and uplifting. Begin the day in a peaceful way before you take on the challenges and adventures of the day. Each song is based on a prayer from the Morning Blessings portion of the Jewish prayerbook.

If you represent a hospital, hospice or the military - CDs will be sent to you for free. email your request to taramizrachi@gmail.com

Beginning with Modei Ani, the prayer recited upon awakening, thanking God for restoring my soul after a night of sleep and then Asher Yatsar, the prayer that thanks God for keeping all my bodily functions working and for healing all living things. Each prayer is a beautiful statement of gratitude and faithfulness written by great sages who lived in ancient Israel. These prayers are woven together with the statements of an ordinary person and set to a catchy melody and a lively beat.

Songs:

(Tara sings the "Modei Ani" prayer "Thankful am I" and adds thoughts about how the thankfulness for waking after one night of sleep can be also applied to one lifetime and the time of mankind on earth)

"Modei Ani" "Thankful"
(by Tara Mizrachi based on the Modei Ani prayer)

How is it possible after sleeping through the night
that I awaken to a beautiful new sight?
I am alive, my soul is now so very near.
I am renewed and so thankful to be here.

"Thank am I - eternal King of Life
You return my soul to me
with compassion and so faithfully"
Thankful am I

"Modei Ani Lifanecha
Melech Chai"

How is it possible - a lifetime full of years
my soul has traveled through happiness and tears?
I am aware - my soul is now so very near.
I am renewed - and so thankful to be here.

Thankful am I...

How is it possible - 60 centuries
(6,000 years refers to a Shabbat of mankind)
the world awakens the darkness will be cleared
There is a place where souls can dwell together in peace
We are renewed and so thankful to be here.

"Thank am I eternal Kind of life. You return my soul to me
with compassion and so faithfully ..."

"Modei Ani Lifanecha
Melech Chai V'kayam
Shehechezarta bi nishmasi
bichamla raba emunasecha" *

* (quotation marks signify that the passage is an excerpt from the Jewish prayerbook)

"Asher Yatsar" "Wondrous"
(words from the Jewish Prayerbook - melody by Tara Mizrachi)

"You are the source of all blessing Hashem
who created man with wisdom
and created in him many openings, many cavities."

"It is obvious and known before your chair of honor
that if one of them would close or one would open
it would be impossible to live for even one hour."

"You are the source of all blessing Hashem
who cures all flesh and has wondrously done"

"Baruch Ata Hashem rofei kal basar"

"You are the source of all blessings Hashem
who created man with wisdom
and created in him many openings many cavities"

"Baruch Ata Hashem rofei kal basar
u'mafli la'asot." Baruch Ata Hashem

* ("Hashem is the Hebrew word meaning "The Name."
It refers to God's infinite name that is impossible to pronounce)

Cohen's Blessing
(from the Jewish prayerbook and the Torah - music by Tara Mizrachi)

"And Hashem spoke to Moshe (Moses) saying
speak to Aaron and to his sons saying
so shall you bless the Children of Israel - say to them:"

"May God bless you and guard you
May God shine His countenance upon you
and have mercy on you May God show favor to you
and give you peace."

"Yebarechecha Hashem V'yishmerecha.
Ya'er Hashem panav elecha
v' yechunecha.
Yisa Hashem panav elecha
V'yasem lecha shalom."

"Shema Israel" "Listen Israel"

("Shema Israel" prayer from the Torah and the Jewish prayerbook.
Melody and lyrics by Tara Mizrachi. Lyrics based on Aryeh Kaplan's commentary on the Shema prayer.

"Shema Israel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad"
"Listen Israel the Creator of the World is one"
Listen Israel the Creator of the World is part of us.*

"Shema Israel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad"
"Shema Israel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad"
Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad - Hashem is One
"Shema Israel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad"
Hashem is part of us.

Truly comprehend Shema - listen look and know
Open up your mind and watch the miracles unfold

"Shema Israel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echad..."

* (The "Shema" prayer is recited by many 3 times per day and is the last sentence
a Jewish person says before passing away.
Lyrics based on Aryeh Kaplan's commentary on the Shema prayer in which he writes that
Hashem is the limitless Creator of the entire World (yud, kay, vav, kay) and yet at the same time
He is involved in each of our lives (Elokeinu).)

"Love Hashem" (VeAhavta)
words and music by Tara Mizrachi based on the VeAhavta prayer

As I live through my life and travel down the road I'm not often sure which way to turn
climbing up tall hills hiking grassy meadows - Along the way this much I've learned:
If we love Hashem with all my heart, love Hashem with all my soul, love Hashem
with all the strength that I have. I'll never be too far from our home.

"Ve Ahavta Hashem Elokeicha v'chal levavecha, u' v'chal nefshecha
u v'chal veodecha, veahavta Hashem."

If I follow His path, help others who are in need,
love my neighbor as myself,
be humble not full of pride,
listen to what's deep inside
with the heart and soul and strength
Hashem has given to me to

Love Hashem...

"Neshama" "Soul"
words and music by Tara Mizrachi - based on the Neshama prayer

There is a prayer that gets to the essence of it all
of who I am even though there are times I may fall
My soul is pure that's how it was given to me
and that's how I will always be

"Elokai neshama shenatata bi tehora."
"Elokai neshama shenatata bi tehora
Ata berata, Ata yetsarta, Ata nefachta bi
V' Ata m'shamra bikirbi"

"And in the future You will take it away from me
and return it in the future yet to come
You created it, You formed it, You breathed into me
and You guard it within me..."

"Elokai neshama shenatata bi tehora.."

"Neshama" "Soul" (English version)

There is a prayer that gets to the essence of it all
of who I am even though there are times I may fall
My soul is pure that's how it was given to me
and that's how I will always be.

It goes like this:
"My God - the soul You have given me is pure
You created it, You formed it, You breathed it into me,
You guard it within me."

"And in the future you will take it away from me
and return it in the future yet to come."
"You created it, You formed it, You breathed it into me,
You guard it within me.."

"Kirtsono" "According to Your Plan"
words and music by Tara Mizrachi - based on the Kirtsono prayer

If you see me in social settings
my verbal skills are flawed
I usually say the wrong things
my choice of words are poor.

You won't see me climbing mountains
or scaling up Pike's Peak
I haven't scored a touchdown
or been named as MVP (Most Valuable Player)

Ohhh Hashem created me just the way I am
according to his will to be the best I truly can
Ohhh Hashem created me according to his plan
'cause if it were another way I wouldn't be who I am.

NASA hasn't called me to be the next in space
to make the next discovery, to be a flying ace.
But if I reach inside me and really try my best
I may not make the headlines but I'll pass my life long test.

"Baruch Ata Hashem Elokeinu Melech HaOlam *
She asa ni kirtsono."
You made me according to Your plan

(translation: You are the source of all blessing Hashem,
King of the Universe who made me according to Your will"

"Ma Tovu" "What Goodness"

"Ma tovu ohalecha Yaakov (Jacob)
mishkinosecha Israel
Va ani b'rov chasdecha avo veysecha"

"What good to you, your tents of Yaakov *
your dwelling places Israel.
And for me, through the abundance of
your kindness I will come to your house."

(the prayer refers to one who observes the
tents of the Children of Israel and sees their kindness)

"Adon Olam" ("Master of the Universe")
words and music by Tara Mizrachi - based on the Adon Olam prayer

"Adon Olam asher malach b'terem kol y'tsir nivra.
L'et na'asa v'cheftso kol azai Melech sh'mo nikra."

As I acknowledge - that the One who created me
is Master of the Universe, Creator of the World.
As I acknowledge - that the One who cares for me
was here before the human race
is infinite in time and space

Then now - I will have the courage
when troubles befall me,
when help just can't be found

Then now - I will have the courage
when challenges await me,
when the road keeps going down

"Into His hands I entrust my spirit
when I go to sleep and when I awake
and with my spirit, my body also
Hashem is with me I will not fear..."

"Morning Meditation"
(no words)

dedicated in loving blessed memory of Sally Fuchs (Tsipora bas Yosef and Yidka)
