Album Notes
Give a listen to this compelling CD and slip back into the hills... slip back in time... and find a peaceful place to escape from this far too often, far too hectic world.

As haunting as the mist-shrouded mountains she calls home, these offerings are as nourishing to the soul as a ramble in the woods. Possessed with the grace of a poet and the heart of a romantic, Sherrie invokes the very spirit of the hills with a surprising yet subtle powerfulness of lyric and melody.

The diversity of this collection of 13 originals is also quite impressive. The musical influences that weave their way through this mountain tapestry recall the leavings of earlier Highlanders, and range from Celtic, Traditional, Native American, Bluegrass, to Blues, and more.

Listen to these song clips to walk home along a mountain ridge with a weary soldier, or to get that 'blue to the bones' feeling of being a stranger and out of your element. Close your eyes and accept a chanted invitation to connect with the power and mystery of a creature of nature, then drift into an a cappella water color and have the four seasons of the Appalachian mountains painted on your heart, or simply succumb to the lure of a poignant love song.

Beautifully complementing the music is an outstanding package that definitely adds to this affecting experience. The listener's journey is top priority, as made obvious with the inclusion of an 8 page booklet of lyrics and liner notes. Also provided are introductions to all the players, along with intriguing glimpses into the unique birth and creation of the project.

With "giving back" being a very important part of sharing her music, Sherrie donates a portion of profits from the sales of this recording to the preservation of wildlife and habitat.

Five Stars are just not enough!!
A great combination of lyrics, instrumentals and vocals. I’ve had this cd for a couple of years now and it is still my favorite. A rare and beautiful find.

Reminds me of Joan Baez in her "ballad phase".
The traditional ballad format expressed in these strong, crystal clear vocals calls to mind the early works of Joan Baez. If you can't be on your porch looking out over the Blue Ridge, just put this CD on and close your eyes. The forays into Blues and Native American chanting represent, to my mind, a rather jarring mood swing, but the rest of the collection is outstanding. I'm truly thankful to have stumbled across this jewel.
