ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Valdosta, Georgia’s best kept secret is now Nashville’s rising star! Stacia Watkins began taking vocal lessons at the age of seven and performed on the weekends at fairs and pageants throughout her school years and well into college. However, Stacia’s love affair with music goes way back. “I started singing at the age of four,” Stacia says. “But Mama said that when I was in the womb, and would start kicking, she would turn on music and I’d automatically stop.”

It wasn’t until 2008, while living in Atlanta, that Stacia began writing her own music. “At the beginning, I started writing out of necessity because I didn't know how to look for original material,” she says. Since she began songwriting, Stacia has fallen head over heels in love with the process.

“I take my time and write about what I’m feeling. I also listen to what people are saying around me or in conversations, on TV, in movies, etc. That’s where you get really great ideas,” Stacia says about her writing inspiration. “It’s also important when you’re co-writing to have really great chemistry with that person. I love being in a writing session where you get down to business, but you also have a lot of fun. You can learn so much from the other writer.”

Things began taking off for the country singer/songwriter in 2008 and 2009 when Stacia made it into the Top 32 in CMT’s Unsigned Artist Competition. Since then, she has opened up for Jo Dee Messina, Trent Wilmon and The Lo Cash Cowboys. Stacia has also played legendary venues like The Bluebird Café, Tin Pan South, Puckett’s Grocery, Hard Rock Café and most recently at The Station Inn as a guest of Grammy award winning producer/musician Randy Kohrs.

Stacia performed with Sugarland’s leading lady, Jennifer Nettles, as part of ABC’s Duets this past spring. Like Stacia, Nettles was formerly in 4-H’s Clovers & Company performing arts group, which led to her getting picked to audition for the show.

Stacia Watkins is currently signed with TWHale Publishing with hit songwriter, T.W. Hale (“Why Haven’t I Heard From You” – Reba McEntire, “A Night To Remember” – Joe Diffie, etc.). She is in the process of writing and recording her first EP and can be found performing at various venues around Nashville where she now resides.

Stacia’s original songs, “I Believe” (Watkins, SESAC), “Strong Enough” (Watkins/Beth Ogden, BMI), and “When God Whispers” (Watkins/Alex Conerly BMI), have all been received well live. Stacia’s powerful voice delivers each note with ease and passion that is hard to find nowadays.

With God in her heart and music in her soul, Stacia Watkins is a gift to anyone who will take a listen.
