ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
An artist is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as one who seeks to express beauty in visible or tangible form. Without a doubt, Stephanie Ault goes above and beyond the textbook definition of a musician, stretching the status quo of performance to encompass every unique detail of her craft. In fact, the beauty of her work is found in the unexpected word play and the candid musical narration on everything from growing up fatherless to the trials of suburbia.

A native Texan, Stephanie moved her home to wherever she fancied, a musical nomad living in France, New York City, and finally, Boulder, Colorado. Miraculously, a piano seemed to follow her wherever she went, and her pockets and bags filled up with compositions that begged to be recorded. In fall 2007, Stephanie began work on her first album, aptly entitled "Heart in Hand". This EP pulled together 20 years worth of piano playing, notebooks of songs, and life story. Stephanie's major influences for this album include innovative musicians and lyricists such as The Cranberries and Sufjan Stevens.

Crafting songs out of life and candor, Stephanie has created a new breed of music; lyrics that speak of common human experience with fresh perspective and a voice that will never fail to capture your attention and inspire imagination.
