ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album is dedicated to the exceptionally talented and beautiful Elizabeth Montgomery. Elizabeth was a leading American actress across five decades of stage, TV, and film. She is most fondly remembered as Samantha Stephens in the enchanting 60’s/70's TV show, 'Bewitched' ®. Elizabeth’s magic bewitches us to this day – long live the Queen.

Elizabeth on my TV,
You reach out and touch me
From the airwaves of the sixties,
Still a beauty in the nineties
And when I tune in ‘Nick at Night’,
It’s very black and white
But there’s this perky blonde,
Who’s shining so bright

[CHORUS]
FOREVER I WATCH YOU,
FOREVER I FEEL YOU
I ALWAYS TURN YOU ON
AN INSPIRATION TO ME,
YOUR FACE LIGHTS UP MY TV
THIS DAY AND BEYOND
AND YOU ARE,
THE WITCH OF MY DREAMS

But I was too young to know you,
Now I’m too old to thank you
For your gracious appearance,
In this hazy daytime dream
Your spirit flows like wine,
And we age without time
An actor and an actress,
A dimly lit scene,
On the silver screen

CHORUS [repeat]

Then I saw the headline,
And held back the tears
I’ll always miss you,
But know you are near
And one day in heaven,
We’ll share in this prayer
We’ll meet at the ball,
And dance, on the air

CHORUS [REPEAT]
CHORUS [REPEAT]

I once dropped by for sugar,
In a daydream fanfare
You were painting on the terrace,
Shining with talent,
Arresting blonde hair
Samantha you’re so colorful
You are yourself, no time to fear
Fight city hall, with magical mystery,
Same at Soap Box Derby cheer
I beheld your gaze, sultry green eyes,
“Please come this way”
Button-down tie-dye, garden jean thighs
I could never, never turn away

ENCHANTED HIDING PLACE,
THE BROOM CLOSET
WITH DARK FLYING SUIT,
THE BROOM CLOSET
A KETTLE BLACK HAT
SHE NEVER TURNED AWAY,
FROM THE BROOM CLOSET

That twitch often beguiles,
Her magic graceful smile,
She turned then said,
“Will this be all?”
I was always, under her spell
Frozen in place,
I still recall
Paul Revere’s tea cup,
Sugar to the rim
Left 1164, counting memories evermore
Left 1164, counting memories evermore

ENCHANTED HIDING PLACE,
THE BROOM CLOSET
WITH DIAMOND AMULET,
THE BROOM CLOSET

A KETTLE BLACK HAT,
THE BROOM CLOSET
SILKY BLACK CAT,
IN THE BROOM CLOSET

SPELLS ARE CAST WIDE,
FROM THE BROOM CLOSET
SHE NEVER THOUGHT TWICE
NEVER TURNED AWAY,
FROM THE BROOM CLOSET

Oh Liz, I can see you now,
Clearly the spell remains
This wooden frame,
Holds your smile
Shines so bright today
And it shall be, that way
Every day

'Glamour Walked Here'

Inspired by historical account of "An Old Beau Tells All About LIZ MONTGOMERY'S PAST" at bobsbewitchingdaughter site

We passed mirrored walls,
And purple lux lounge
Ballroom blue glass,
Didn’t reveal a sound
Tea dance with bridge,
Made for two
Chessboard tours,
Played out with you

Communal sport
Was new to her,
Yet she covered every foot,
That marble dance floor
From the stag line,
Near the bandstand
She swayed like a dream
Lindy Hop, Jitterbug Jam,
A cut in between
The band played on all night,
And she never lost that look,
Past twilight

SUMMER COUNTRY GIRL
TOMORROW’S COAST IS CLEAR
IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR
WHEN GLAMOUR WALKED HERE

Her first act would be at Father’s whim,
But she carved out her own Hollywood gem,
While east coast spunky girls,
Were not mainstream
She made it her own, limited touch
Followed her dream

Whisked away that night, in black high heals
Through coveted doors, false décor, and overt seals
Past yachts riverside,
Into the great divide, she said,
“City walls fracture the few,
Club gardens kept in private view”

Would she marry Park Avenue side of the tracks?
Social games, after dinner yakkity-yak

SUMMER COUNTRY GIRL,
TOMORROW’S COAST IS CLEAR
IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR,
WHEN GLAMOUR WALKED HERE

SHE LIVES IN THE MOMENT NOW,
NOT SOCIAL YESTERYEAR
IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR,
WHEN GLAMOUR WALKED HERE

SHE’S A CHANGED COUNTRY GIRL,
TOMORROW’S COAST IS CLEAR
IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR,
WHEN GLAMOUR WALKED HERE
AND SHE LIVES IN THE MOMENT NOW,
NOT SOCIAL YESTERYEAR
IN THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR,
WHEN GLAMOUR WALKED HERE

Inspired by Elizabeth Montgomery, ‘Bewitched’®, and Salem MA

I’m headed to Salem,
Where the Witches are
I’m driving to Salem,
Where Sam’s a star
She flew down,
To the Convention
They’ll all be there

Cruisin’ to Salem,
Brooms are gonna’ stay
Afternoons on the coast,
Near the Hawthorne today
Stop at the Gables,
Head on over to the shore

Down on the street,
In a two hour tour
Shadow near the Witch House,
Thought I saw her for sure
Golden blonde hair
In the Salem sun, behind me

I’m headed to Salem,
Sam is already there
I’m driving to Salem,
Sam is already there
Saw her on the Witch’s trail
Down by the shore, I swear

'Like a Saint'

You might swing to the left,
Or come undone
But don’t lean too far,
Brazen guitar unstrung
Livin’ in a glass house,
From world of prying eyes
Cleared corner in your heart,
Where yesterday’s love lies
Reign in glory tomorrow,
A clean start for you
Praise your place in the sun,
Rainbow dance is your clue

ON EVERY STREET,
ANY PASSERBY
LIVE LIKE A SAINT,
THOU SHALL NOT LIE

A bit more respect,
Is all you get
But you’ll breath
Like a Saint you bet

LIVE LIKE A SAINT
NOT FOR THE FAINT
LIVE LIKE A SAINT

She’s a double threat,
Pure emotion, same old line
She’ll forgive not forget,
At the funeral scrimmage line
Should you turn the page,
She’s not for the faint
Will you spare your health,
And live like a saint?

And in through the years
You’ll pass that fear
When you see like a saint
Until the final day,
A life worth living
When you breathe like a saint
You’ll land on your feet,
If you live like a saint

NOT EVERYBODY IN THE STREET
WILL LIVE LIKE A SAINT

In the neon glow,
Sirens wail in the sky
She claims spitting change,
Like an eager firefly
In the limelight show,
Rational thought is lost,
When twilight breaks,
Who shall pay the final cost?

SURE THE DOORS,
OPEN WIDE
AND LIGHTS,
DIM BRIGHT INSIDE

Now everyone gets a fix,
At the Rainbow Room
Power spins, tailgate girls,
Electronic saloon
Aruba, St. Thomas, Vegas,
You can’t beat the house
And fortunes will rise
But somebody has got to,
Live like a mouse

SURE THE DOORS,
OPEN WIDE
LIGHTS DIM BRIGHT,
DIM BRIGHT INSIDE

WHAT DO YOU WANNA’ FEEL,
WANT TO FEEL TONIGHT?
NEON GLOW,
IS THE SHOW OUT OF SIGHT?

'Silver Into Gold'
Copyright © 2008 Stephen Boothby

When you fall asleep,
When you rest so still
But if you polish the stone,
Will the silver,
Become the gold?

How many faces,
Did she try on last night?
And how many tears in the wind,
Did she hide behind cold eyes?
And when I saw the weeping wife,
Comforted by empty pillows
A closed heart that never sails
I recall in instant what she sold,
When she turned her silver into gold

ALL OUR TURNS,
ALL OUR FEARS
IN THROUGH THE YEARS
ALL OUR TURNS,
WE’LL STEER
IN THROUGH THE YEARS

Watch the rain melt,
Melt stones into spheres
From a hundred,
Clouds in the sky
She strolls between her soldier’s shadow,
This tomb still clings to life
Only a few more visits,
Just a couple of flowers to lay
She renews the dream,
When she turns
Her silver into gold

When you fall asleep,
Your heart will often lie
When you rest so still,
Your eyes will always cry
What if you polish?
But if you polish the stone,
The silver becomes,
The gold

ALL OUR TURNS,
ALL OUR FEARS
IN THROUGH THE YEARS
ALL OUR TURNS,
WE’LL STEER
IN THROUGH THE YEARS

ALL OUR TURNS,
ALL OUR FEARS
IN THROUGH THE YEARS

Emotions ebb and flow,
Behind the trumpet marching band
New Orleans’s port is home
The line of heroes cross the sand
Crowds waving and smiling,
Defending the impossible dream
Handkerchiefs, then inquiries
Through the glare aquamarine

HE’S YESTERDAY’S SOLIDER,
BUT HE AIMED FOR TODAY
WHEN THEY ALL COME HOME,
IN THE END

She stands before this same man,
Who loaned his heart for this land
A brief tour the other side
Loved ones taken,
In measured cries
She seems the wounded woman now,
Tired words of honor fail,
Though he escaped straight-on fire,
Frozen memories never expire

BECAUSE HE’S YESTERDAY’S SOLIDER,
BUT HE AIMED FOR TODAY
WHEN THEY ALL COME HOME,
IN THE END

HE’S TOMORROW’S HERO,
BUT HE AIMED FOR TODAY
WHEN THEY ALL FLY HOME,
IN THE END

HE’S YESTERDAY’S SOLIDER,
BUT HE AIMED FOR TODAY
WHEN THEY ALL COME HOME,
IN THE END

HE’S TOMORROW’S HERO,
BUT HE AIMED FOR TODAY
WHEN THEY ALL FLY HOME,
IN THE END
