Remember that really good musician you heard playing somewhere, but don’t remember his name. That’s Steve Garcia.
Steve Garcia is a music veteran. He has been playing professionally since his teens, fronted countless bands, duo’s and trios and when at his best, as and acoustic solo.
Steve has shared the stage or opened for countless stars of the music industry and yet still has flown under the radar for most of his career. Wrong place? wrong time? Maybe. Not the latest in style? Definitely. What Steve has done best for decades, is extremely high quality singing, songwriting, and musicianship at every gig; yet he is not a star and doesn’t act like one. Garcia says “ If you walked into a room and were asked to pick out the artist; It wouldn’t be me! I look more like the custodian.”
Steve has played or written in just about every style of music and has always embraced all forms of music. This has created his unique yet accessible style as a music artist. While acoustic based his writing flows with unique world rhythms and very strong and developed songwriting abilities that highlight Steve’s keen observations of the world, society and his place in it. He can make you laugh and cry, sometimes in the same song.
Garcia has one of those voices that make you whip your head around and listen when you weren’t expecting to. He will draw you in and leave you with “chicken skin” when he plays one of his trademark ballads. His sets flow seamlessly from one song to another. In any one performance you will want to jump up and groove, dance slow and close or Steve’s favorite sit, think and smile and just enjoy the evening. “I’m good with that,” Garcia says.
When asked about his goals as a singer songwriter Steve says,” I have been playing music so long I don’t remember life NOT playing music. I love the whole process of music from the isolation of writing and pre-production, to the anxiety that comes with every public performance. I just really love this “stuff”, the whole thing. I love how my guitar feels, the sound of testing out sound through monitors, that first beer! And the rush I get when I start playing whether its 10-10,000 people, I love surprising people by being good at what I do. Music has opened doors, broadened horizons, and allowed me to make friends I would have never made without my ability to sing and play. Music has been like my handshake with the world and there’s a lot more hands to shake.”
Give Steve Garcia a listen, you wont be disappointed. Turn your friends on to his music. Steve says, “ I am, what I am, so as long as I get to keep making music, I’m a happy man. I’m not in this for fame, hell, my cat ignores me! Fortune? “ I have a dental plan! So cool!”
