Album Notes
In August 1984 Jan and Peter get to know eachother after a mutual concert. Jan played guitar in a band called Ravage and Peter was a singer in a band called Whitelight. The one gave the other and the result was that Jan ended his work with Ravage and became an new member in Whitelight in the fall the same year. The concentration of the band was melodic hardrock and their influence was among others Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and Bad Company, but later also band like Whitesnake, Van Halen, Journey,Toto, Riot, Wrabit and Dokken. The band did many gigs and demos (in hope of a recorddeal).

1987 Jan decided to brake up and went his own way. He wanted to try his wings with tuffer and more guitarbased hardrock. Peter stayed in Whitelight but Jan was´nt replaced. Instead the name of the band was changed to Kee Avenue. Jan established a new band called Why Not and later he also established new bands like Perfect Stranger and Dr Blue. These bands did really successful gigs and recordings in different places. In 1994 Jan stepped down from the stages, but kept on writing songs and recorded them in Cubase.
Since then he owns a Studio.

Kee Avenue split up in 1991 after the bassplayer and the keyboardplayer left the band. The band never found anyone tho replace them. After this breakup Peter played with different band, mostley coverband. He kept on writing songs.

15 years after the two played together Jan called Peter on the phone. He meant that it was time for a "reunion". After a good meal, a few beers and whiskey the interest grew to once more form a project. The result of this was and still is StoneLake.

The future looks bright for StoneLake if they stay on this course
OVERALL IMPRESSION. Swedish rockers StoneLake's first CD, Limited Edition, shows a great deal of promise even though it contains only two songs. Jan Åkesson's guitar playing is solid, and he also handles the duties on bass and drums, while Peter Grundström takes care of the vocals with a voice that is made for melodic rock. "Stay Young And Free" is an anthemic song with a catchy chorus, while "Only One Reason" is a slower pace, but still memorable. The future looks bright for StoneLake if they stay on this course.

BEST TRACKS. "Stay Young And Free."

DISAPPOINTMENTS. With only two songs, it's less than eight minutes long!

Limited Edition

The duo that makes up this Swedish melodic hard rock act first worked together in 1984 when they were both members of Whitelight, a band with influences ranging from Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company to Van Halen,JourneyandDokken.
They parted ways three years later because Jan wanted to try his hand at a more guitar orientated style of hard rock and it would take 15 years before the two of them would once again join forces in a new project called StoneLake.“Limited Edition” is the first product of their new formed partnership and will please anyone with a penchant for guitar dominated melodic hard rock that recalls the likes of TNT, Talisman and early Europe.Opening cut “Stay Young And Free” is a simple, straight forward rocker with an excellent axe job courtesy of mister Akkesson. while “Only One Reason” is as a mid-paced TNT styled track with a neo-classical part somewhere towards the end. It’s hard to judge a band on the basis of two songs but the sounds that have caressed my eardrums definitely got me interested in hearing more of these gentlemen.
Right now the duo are hard at work on StoneLake’s first full CD. For a taste of things to come you simply have to visit the audio section of the band’s web site.

HIGHLIGHT:Only one reason
Stonelake is a new Swedish hardrock band consisting of
guitarplayer Jan Akesson and Vocalist Peter Grundstrom,
both formerly in the 80´s band Kee Avenue who recorded
the old favorite demo track of mine called "Is it really you".
The AOR parts are still there but in a more L.A kinda hard
rock style a la Warrant,Danger Danger and Skid Row.
This is a 2 track single with one average rocker called
"Stay young and free" (a rather cliche´ title) and the
more interesting song "Only one reason" that features
a really good progressive break,if they can write more
of this calibre and put on some more background vocals
on the songs - things could be exciting.
It´s a good production anyhow.
HIGHLIGHT:Only one reason

Musically we get to hear pure 80s melodic hardrock in the style of DOKKEN, WHITE

This Swedish band started 20 years ago under the moniker of WHITELIGHT. Now 2 decades later the band is called STONELAKE, consisting of vocalist Peter Grundstrom and multi-instrumentalist Jan Akesson. Musically we get to hear pure 80s melodic hardrock in the style of DOKKEN, WHITESNAKE, WHITE LION, VAN HALEN, TESLA, FIREHOUSE... This is the kind of stuff American bands were playing towards the 80s, big arena sounding guitar orientated hookladen melodic hardrock with catchy accessable choruses. Peter is a good strong singer (like a mix between SEBASTIAN BACH and MIKE TRAMP), while Jan is pretty good with all the instruments (due to the 20+ years of experience in the muxis business). There are 2 songs on this CD-single, the uptempo rocker “Stay young and free” and the very impressive midtempo “Only one reason”. Fans of mentioned bands will love this band a lot, hopefully soon a full-length CD. More info at: and e-mail them at:
