ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
01. The Holly & The Ivy originally appeared on christmasongs by Stratos (Bailey Records, 2002). Two versions of the song were released on the original album, the better of the two included here.

02. Jolly Old Saint Nicholas originally appeared on Cosmic Christmas by Stratos (Bailey Records, 2001) and was arranged and recorded for friends and family while the final wraps were being put on the production of The Screen – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Bailey Records, 2000).

03. a techNO*EL Christmas was written by Column 5 and arranged and recorded by Stratos for the 2003 release of techNO*EL (Bailey Records) and the tour that followed.

04. Sonik Dissonance [elven style] is a holiday remix of the first song ever composed by Stratos. The original version was written and released for an independent film called The Screen in late 2000. While wrapping up production responsibilities for the soundtrack Stratos decided to record new dance/techno arrangements of popular Christmas music. In 2001, Stratos released Cosmic Christmas. To support Cosmic Christmas, Stratos began performing live in cafes, clubs, etc. around Columbus, Ohio. During the shows, Stratos often added songs from his catalog and gave them the “holiday treatment;” Sonik Dissonance was one of those songs. In 2003, Stratos compiled most of the original Christmas material, added in various holiday mixes originally arranged live, and released techNO*EL in limited numbers while performing for his third consecutive holiday season. In November 2008, Cosmic Christmas was remastered and re-released exclusively through RPGNow.com/DriveThruRPG and now in 2009 the other songs, plus some new ones, are being remastered and re-released for your enjoyment.

05. On Christmas Night originally appeared on christmasongs.

06. Deck the Hall originally appeared on Cosmic Christmas.

07. Conversations in Eschatology [yule mix] is a holiday remix of one of the most popular songs ever composed by Stratos. The original version of Conversations in Eschatology appears on Autumnal Slumber (Bailey Records / April 1, 2003) and was played on various radio stations around the US. Conversations in Eschatology was also a staple in Stratos’ live shows and was often remixed depending on the venue or season. In 2003, Stratos included Conversations in Eschatology [yule mix] in his set list at shows and the song was released on techNO*EL (Bailey Records / November 4, 2003). In 2009, Conversations in Eschatology [End Game Mix] was released on Odds and Ends, Rarities & Remixes (Bailey Records). Now Conversations in Eschatology [yule mix] has been remastered and re-released for your enjoyment.

08. Holidaze was the first of three new additions to techNO*EL to appear in 2009. To commemorate his ninth anniversary as a Bailey Records recording artist Stratos composed a new dance tune featuring synths, drum machines, and samples reminiscent of his earliest work. While not actually a Christmas song, Holidaze nonetheless fits the overall mood and upbeat themes of techNO*EL and keeps your groove-caboose moving.

09. O Come, O Come Emmanuel appeared on Cosmic Christmas.

10. I Saw Three Ships originally appeared on Cosmic Christmas. Stratos learned this song in 1999 while caroling with his long-time friend Buddy Chronister.

11. Mercurial Christmas is a remix of Mercurial Constructions from Autumnal Slumber (Bailey Records / April 1, 2003) and was regularly featured in Stratos’ live appearances. In 2003, Stratos included Mercurial Christmas in his set list at shows and the song was released on techNO*EL (Bailey Records / November 4, 2003). Now Mercurial Christmas has been remastered and re-released for your listening enjoyment.

12. Away in a Manger originally appeared on christmasongs and featured Stratos’ wife Missy D on vocals however this is the instrumental version.

13. This is Chrishanukwanzmadan is a quirky, experimental track featuring a Jewish harp and several other eclectic instruments in addition to the synths and drum machines one comes to expect from a Stratos tune. This is Chrishanukwanzmadan is also a theme song of sorts for the special holiday edition of Oddmall: Emporium of the Weird hosted by Mutha Oith Creations and even borrows a few samples from the song This is Oddmall which was released on Odds and Ends, Rarities & Remixes by Stratos (Bailey Records / May 12, 2009). More about Oddmall at www.Oddmall.info.

14. Sunlight [holiday instrumental mix] is a remix of an original song written by Micah Klotz and produced by Stratos. This is one of two remixes of the song by Stratos; the other remix appeared on the PlastiqMusiq compilation album called Unheard Artists Compilation, Volume 4 (PM0023). Sunlight was a regular song in Stratos’ live shows and was often remixed depending on the venue or season. In 2003, Stratos included Sunlight [holiday instrumental mix] in his set list at shows. The song was released on techNO*EL (Bailey Records / November 4, 2003) and has now been remastered and re-released for your enjoyment.

15. Hark the Herald, Angels Sing originally appeared on Cosmic Christmas.

16. O Come All Ye Faithful originally appeared on christmasongs and featured Stratos’ wife Missy D on vocals however this is the instrumental version.

17. Sydney [hottie in a holiday dress mix] – Just as with the original version of this song (now part of Spycraft – The Soundtrack), this holiday remix is inspired by the television show “Alias” but with a holiday twist. In 2003, Stratos included Sydney [hottie in a holiday dress mix] in his set list at shows and the song was released on techNO*EL (Bailey Records / November 4, 2003). Now Sydney [hottie in a holiday dress mix] has been remastered and re-released for your enjoyment.

18. Jingle Bells Forever originally appeared on Cosmic Christmas.

19. O Holy Night was arranged and recorded specifically for this 2010 release of techNO*EL, the Definitive Edition.

20. Wishing You A Merry Christmas originally appeared on Cosmic Christmas and was slightly remixed for inclusion on both christmasongs and techNO*EL. This version is closest to its original arrangement from 2000/2001.

21. Bailey Records Fanfare [Cosmic techNO*EL Mash-Up] closes out the album with Jingle Bells and We Wish You A Merry Christmas sung by Stratos’ two oldest daughters Trinity Alexis (6 years) and Aayla Rose (3.5 years) and mashed-up with the original Fanfare. In 2006, with the release of both the Slade Chronicles: Riftwalker – Official Mix-Tape and Amazing Universe – The Superheroic Music EP, T.W. Cory and Stratos composed the “Bailey Records Fanfare.” The purpose of the Fanfare is to tie all soundtracks together under a common “umbrella,” just as movie studios like Fox and Universal do with their opening fanfares. This is the tenth CD that the “Bailey Records Fanfare” has appeared on, and as with the previous incarnations it includes an album-specific tag ending.

Merry Christmas!
