Album Notes
This a 60's album about todays government and culture problems!
This is the 2nd album from lo-fi fuzz-folk band Strawberry Ferris Wheel.
The albums themes is obvious in the lyrics with songs called "Communication Overload" and "And The War Rages On" that SFW is saying to the world "enough with the bullsh*t and excess".

The music is acoustically driven with guitars, woodwinds, tambourines and shakers. It also has some raw electric guitar living in the album as well.
The vocal melodies are strong and reminiscent of the John Lennon style distorted effect.

The title "you are dreaming" i feel can be taken many ways and is perfect for the many levels of meaning you can pull out of this album.
There is also a great flow through the whole record and even if you choose not to tune in the the subject matter it still make a great listen and will stay with you for a while.

Masterpiece that proves it's possible to combine good music and commercial success, You Are Dreaming is still one of the best sold albums in history, and it's amazing because it's not a piece of cake for everybody.
Strawberry Ferris Wheel was starting to leave behind the very complex and ultra aggressive early sound when they decided to do something special, softer but musically complex and transcendental, a space album oriented, full of sound effects with reminiscences of the late 60's sound and explosions of madness typical of British psychedelia, a perfect combination of modernism and melancholia.

The band is perfect, Echo's voice is precise for the album and his guitar is outstanding, he creates a dark mysterious atmosphere much more common in very early Genesis and Pink Floyd, but also aggressive is some parts. Piacente is also perfect she is strong but delicate when needed.

Echo works in team with Piacente because her keyboards help to create the atmospheric sound I mention before, an amazing, in a low tone but with a strength that is unique.

The first four songs "Anything Anymore", "The Dream For Today" , "Communication Overload" and "On A Rainy Spring Evening" form a semi epic, the strongest section of the album.

"You Are Dreaming" is closed by "Redstar" splendid but somehow depressing .

Still I'm not sure if You Are Dreaming is a concept album, or if the first four songs are a long epic instead of separate tracks, but....Who cares? It's a masterpiece that has to be in a preferential place in any musical collection.
