"Stukulele" pushes the Ukulele into new territory with a bold debut for Stuart Fuchs, exploring Brazil, Blues, New Orleans, original music and more.

Music has always been a deep & spiritual experience for Stuart Fuchs and since he was a young boy it has been his life's path to share the joy of healing sounds with others. Stuart began by sneaking his father's guitar into the woods where he would listen to the bird songs & try to imitate them on the strings.

Stuart has worked as a performing musician, teaching artist & workshop facilitator for nearly 20 years—playing many styles of music on Guitar, Ukulele & healing music on overtone rich instruments such as Tibetan Singing Bowls and the Aboriginal Didjeridoo. Stuart has been called a “modern day pied piper” and has performed & taught music to a diverse array of populations—from corporate executives & toy designers at Fisher-Price Inc., developmentally disabled adults, juvenile offenders, and hospice patients. Stuart believes passionately in the healing power of music to be a vehicle for personal expression & wellness—he finds great joy & purpose in guiding individuals into a more humanistic and natural experience of their innate musicality.

As a band leader and sideman Stuart has toured & performed extensively—most notably with his award-winning gypsy jazz band “Babik” (bah-beek). Babik was featured on Public Radio International’s “The World” and has performed in concert halls & festivals across the U.S. Stuart has collaborated to create original arrangements for Babik of Django Reinhardt’s music for Symphony Orchestra and contemporary ballet. For five years Stuart has worked as an Artist-in-Residence at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo N.Y. where he shares the healing nature of music and the creative process with patients, families and hospital staff. Stuart studied improvisation extensively with Grammy-Winning Cellist/Composer David Darling and is a certified Music for People ™ instructor. Stuart has presented his “Awakening the Creative Soul” program at Yoga Centers across the U.S., Costa Rica, Bermuda and Thailand. Stuart has studied & practiced Yoga and Meditation for over 15 years and is experienced in the use of Naad Yoga (Yoga of Sound), Mantra, and Kirtan (sacred chanting) for wellness and personal transformation.

Stuart is an endorsing artist with Kala Ukuleles & Planet Waves.

Stukulele is Stupendous!
Listened to this first in the car w/ my three younger kids (whom Stuart taught several years ago at Tapestry Charter School) and I had to set the cruise control as I'm sure I would have gotten a speeding ticket, for the first track makes you want to dance! The others are a variety of funny, foot tapping melodies, or beautiful , soulful pieces which transport one to other climes.
Overall, a wonderful variety of music for all ages!

Pure JOY masquerading as a little round disc!
Stu Fuchs is an absolute virtuoso on both ukulele and guitar...,but that is almost beside the point. First and
foremost, Stu plays MUSIC. He has music in his soul and the instrument is merely the conduit to let it out.
Stu could mesmerize and musically move you playing a soup ladle! I'd defy anyone to listen to this album
and not come away in a much happier and more positive state of mind. Life is short, do yourself a favor...

Stukulele Jams!
The crispness of Assanhado, Benzinho, and Receita De Samba (which has such danceable rhythms!) is undeniable. Stukulele makes the ukulele sing pure. Black Orpheus is - stunning! It’s a terrific bonus track to let new fans (and dedicated followers) know that Stu is a gifted musician performing diverse musical styles, all with grace, passion, and style.
One of my favorite tunes is Marilla Porch Stomp, an original improv. Awesome tune to begin with, but the sound of the spring peepers in the background is a lovely little surprise on STUKULELE :) In other words, the clarity of the entire cd is superior, from background sounds, game calls, all the vocals, and a gratifying depth in sound with the addition of upright bass, Brazilian and Western percussion.
