Album Notes
Sugar Mike is a dynamic blues musician hailing from the Greenwich Village coffee houses of the 60’s, where he met and jammed with Mississippi John Hurt and John Lee Hooker, to the North Beach bars in San Francisco mostly playing lead guitar with the Bluesville Bombers at the famous Saloon. Sugar Mike/aka/ Michael Stagg plays a National slide guitar and a Tacoma acoustic guitar, singing in a mellow baritone. This album was self recorded(in his wife’s art studio when she wasn’t there) and self released. Mike, a world traveller, was born in Chile and lived in Canada, Europe and Morocco, playing with the Gnaua street musicians in Tangier. This album has no commercial value whatsoever, as it’s a mix of classic country blues and originals, making it fresh and personal—ENJOY !
