ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Firma Entertainment Inc. is proud to announce the release of the new SVETI album, entitled “Where I Come From”. Marko Djordjevic, who MD magazine calls a “drumming star”, leads a group which features the hottest names on todays modern jazz scene. Mr. Djordjevic is joined by Lionel Loueke, Aaron Goldberg, Gregoire Maret, Elliot and Brad Mason, Matt Pavolka and Gretchen Parlato in masterfully creating a variety of moods and textures, from the burnin’ quartet rendition of Belgrade Bop, to the lyrical My Lucky Number. The first two SVETI albums have established Marko Djordjevic as a powerhouse instrumentalist and improviser. “Where I Come From” features him as a highly seasoned musician, and a composer in a true sense of the word. With as much to say to the uninitiated music lover as to the music buff that’s “heard it all”, “Where I Come From” sets the bar high and is surely going to be one of the most talked about albums in the coming years.

WHERE I COME FROM
Great cd, with brilliant writing and playing to match. I've listened three or four times time now, with each listen telling more !! Beautiful trumpet by Brad Mason, and fantastic Bass Trumpet by Elliot Mason.

A Consummate Musician
It's one thing to be a brilliant drummer, with impeccable time and phenomenal technique; it's another to be one that can compose and arrange with the best of them. Marko does exactly that on WHERE I COME FROM. On top of it all, he surrounds himself with the finest talent, creating a musical juggernaut that breaks all boundaries. It's music steeped in tradition yet entirely original!

compelling, diverse, definitely burning...more revealing with each listen!
marko and band are fabulous musicians, bringing mr.djordevic's well formed composistions to amazing life...music is compelling, diverse, and definitely burning...marko's drumming flows with an uncanny musicality, far trancending technique...lionel's playing is some of the most refreshing guitar work out there...the mason brothers are extraordinary!...this recording gets more revealing with each listen...well done!!

Amazing playing as always.
I've known Marko and played with him on and off for almost 20 years when we were both at Berklee in Boston. Marko is and has always been a world class drummer and composer. He's extremely underrated and is in my opinion one of the best and perhaps the most stylistically original drummer in contemporary music today. This CD shows Marko's prowess as a hard swinging jazz player, a master of odd metered folkloric music, an amazing soloist and a truly original composer. Buy this CD! You may just hear the shape of things to come in modern drumming.
