Postcards from Tanzania

by Swing Je T'aime

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Our music is a listener-friendly blend including fresh takes on classic favorites; unburied treasures; and innovative, original songs. We are a swing band, unconfined. Our primary influences include legendary two-fingered trailblazer Django Reinhardt and his Hot Club of France; the genre-bending "little orchestra" from Portland, Pink Martini; and accessible polystylism. While our performances are musically satisfying to the master's- and doctorate- level professionals in our ensemble, each song is crafted with the goal of maintaining a general accessibility. Through our exciting shows which uniquely balance musical familiarity and newness, we have achieved a rare level of multi-generational appeal.
Swing Je T'aime is exclusively for everyone!
On our second album, Postcards from Tanzania, we have crafted exciting new songs and fresh arrangements with Swing Je T'aime's signature blend of Gypsy / Swing / Pop / World / Classical / Jazz.
Our core group -- Laura Gerhard and Maria Lopez, vocals; Jeremy Wendelin, reeds; Kailin Yong, violin; Brian Dean, piano; Aaron Walker, guitar; Jason Malmberg, bass; and Manuel Lopez, percussion -- was joined in the recording studio by an array of talented guests which helped make this album something very special that we're excited to share with the world. Our thanks to vocalist Steven Taylor, cellist Anna Leavitt, trumpeter Dan Leavitt, and steel pannist Rick Henson."
- composer/director/guitarist Aaron Walker
