“I want people, after listening to my music, to know freedom in Christ; to be healed from whatever situation that they are going through”
(Tamara Coleman; Breath of God Magazine, May-June 2006, Vol.1; Issue3.pg26)
A Poet is one who is especially gifted in the perception of expressing oneself both beautifully and lyrically. Tamara Coleman exceeds this definition. Since the age of three she has been singing with an anointing that touches all that listen to her. With an ongoing zeal, Tamara continues to minister freedom in Christ to young people. She has been truly blessed to reach masses of young people for Christ.
God has placed a calling upon Tamara and has carefully orchestrated her entire life for it. Whenever she goes to perform, testimonies arise from girls who tell us how her songs have made a difference in their lives by giving them self-confidence and building their self-esteem.
Tamara Coleman is a gifted songwriter, worshipper and psalmist. Tamara is a member of New Birth Baptist Church, where Bishop Eddie L. Long is the Senior Pastor. She served as a member of the Re-Present Youth Choir. She is presently serving on the College Ministry Praise and Worship Team and has just started serving on the New Birth praise and worship team.
After much prayer, Tamara turned down an admission to Virginia Tech, to attend Georgia State University, majoring in Music Management. She has flourished at GSU. In addition to being on the Dean's list for several semesters, her gift has increased leaps and bounds, as evidenced by her new release "Moving Forward" which is making headwaves in the independent artist industry. Although she desires to learn the business side of music, her vocal professors are begging her to major in vocal performance. Tamara has a phenomenal voice and is able to sing almost any genre of music.
Tamara’s creative gift does not stop there. She has sung at TD Jakes's Megafest Youth Extravaganza for two consecutive years, and at the New Hope Youth Extravaganza. And just to show that Tamara's gift is not just confined to the gospel arena, Tamara sang background for "Mariah Carey" in concert at Phillips Arena; and for "NAS" at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Tamara's CD entitled, "Free 2 B Me" is now being played on internet radio stations across the country.
Tamara has blossomed into a young lady who wants to reach her generation through singing for Christ. Tamara wants the youth to be encouraged, inspired, and uplifted through song with the message, insight, and knowledge of God's vision and purpose for our lives.
