ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Though treating the music with great reverence, the group approaches and carries on the living tradition of tango with a distinctive sound rooted in the quartet’s unique instrumentation: Catherine Clune, violin; Joshua Brody, piano; Isabel Douglass, accordion; Greg Stephens, trombone.

Their work with early Piazzolla—documented in their critically acclaimed first release, all them cats in Recoleta, vintage Piazzolla—set the ensemble in the direction back to tango’s roots.

All Them Cats in Recoleta
To me it sounds like Tango No. 9 plays with more authentic tango feeling than any other gringos I've ever heard. This is not intended as faint praise -- they're great! Further, the trombone adds an original flavor.
