ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The biggest and most amazing wizards of the Electric Guitar from around the world reunite their talents to create the first volume of "The Dream of the Electric Guitars". This is a collection of classic and rare to find moody, dreamy seductive rock instrumental tracks, blazing with virtuosity and driven by one common element, the electric guitar. These amazing ever lasting performances feature the best electric guitar players in the world today such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Neal Schon (Santana, Journey, Bad English), Steve Lukather (Toto), Gary Moore, Mike Stern, Marty Friedman (Megadeth), Michael Thompson (Celine Dion, Ray Charles, David Foster, Shania Twain), Andy Timmons, Tim Pierce and Markku Kanerva. This release also features some of the best musicians of our planet such as Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Billy Idol, Yngwie Malmsteen, Planet X), Simon Phillips (Toto), Mo Foster (Phil Collins), David Garfield and Pekka Pohjola just to name a few.

Steve Vai's unique musical vision remains unclassifiable as he uses unbridled guitar virtuosity and soulful artistry to explore the spectrum of human emotion as he creates a sound all his own striking a balance between technical ability and poetic phrasing. He has won 2 Grammy awards out of his 7 nominations and he has been voted best guitar player by the most prestigious Guitar magazines in the world.

Joe Satriani is one of the most lyrical and soulful of contemporary rock guitarists in the world today mainly due to his skillful songwriting and his emphasis on emotion over technique. Since 1998 he has sold over 10 million albums worldwide. His success is evident as he has received 14 Grammy nominations.

Five times Grammy Award winner Steve Lukather is the consummate guitarist; acknowledged as "The Reigning King of Session Guitar" by Guitarist magazine in April 2005. Lukather's abundant virtuosity and diversity of musical interests has made him the "Guitarist's Guitarist". He has been an original member of Toto since 1977 and he has lent his talents to scores of Top 40 albums as diverse as Michael Jackson's Thriller, Lionel Richie's Can't Slow Down, Randy Newman"s Trouble in Paradise and literally hundreds of other recordings by legendary artists such as Elton John, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, The Yardbirds and Diana Ross.

Tallying sales of over 10 million albums and 27 gold and platinum records to his credit with multi-platinum hard rock avatars Megadeth, Grammy nominated guitarist Marty Friedman is recognized as one of rock's most accomplished and inventive axemen. He is renowned for his freewheeling solo work, stylistically mining a broad canvas of musical vistas including orchestral soundtrack music to furious aggressive rock.

Neal Schon relentless drive to share the music he creates and his mastery of the guitar create an unparalleled voice that supports and enriches the music of the Multi platinum bands he has played in such as Santana, Journey and Bad English.

A man with an extensive, almost jaw-dropping resume, Derek Sherinian may be known more for his work with Alice Cooper, KISS, Dream Theater, and Billy Idol, but a rare to find equal mix of style and substance makes his solo work ultimately define his career. He has proven that he is more than capable of trading licks with many of the most respected musicians on the planet and with the help of guitarist Steve Lukather, they deliver an astonishing performance on the track "Stony Days".

Andy Timmons, former member of million selling eighties pop-metal act, Danger Danger, is an impressive monument of inspired, blissful, extraordinary and simply irresistible guitar aggressive textures, bolstered by blazing virtuosity and immaculate song crafting.

Finnish guitar player Markku Kanerva's soaring style redefines the realms of finely crafted guitarism as evident on his participations on numerous releases by Finnish composer, bandleader, bassist among bassists and Jazz hero Pekka Pohjola, a unique artist know for as one of Europe's leading Bass players and composers whose music and majestic melodies are appreciated by connoisseurs all over the world. He has produced a long string of solo albums covering a variety of instrumental progressive forms.

As a sideman and a studio musician Mo Foster has toured the world performing and recording with artists such as Phil Collins, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Sting, Ringo Starr, Gil Evans, Gary Moore, Cher, Jose Carreras, Nigel Kennedy, Andrew Lloyd-Webber & Tim Rice, George Martin, and even The London Symphony Orchestra. He teams up with guitarist Gary Moore, known as one of the finest guitarists that the British Isles have ever produced and who has graced the line-ups of ever several notable rock bands, such as Thin Lizzy, Colosseum II and Skid Row to name a few. They deliver an amazing and rare performance on the track "The Light In Your Eyes".

In a career that spans three decades and a discography that includes more than a dozen eclectic and innovative recordings, three time GRAMMY nominee Mike Stern has established himself as one of the premier jazz and jazz-fusion guitarists and composers of his generation. He continues to blur the boundaries between jazz, blues and rock with his amazing virtuosity and ingenuity. His acclaimed releases have led to him being named Best Jazz Guitarist of the Year by the readers and critics of Guitar Player magazine and also earned him the Orville W. Gibson Award for Best Jazz Guitarist that year. His hard-hitting offerings along side Miles Davis, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, John Patitucci, Jack DeJohnette and many others have made him an icon to be revered by music connoisseurs all over the world.

Michael Thompson and Tim Pierce are two of the most revered Los Angeles-based session guitarists who have appeared on hundreds of music albums and motion picture soundtracks. Tim Pierce's credits include work with Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Meat Loaf, Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, Faith Hill, Tracy Chapman, Alice Cooper, Celine Dion, Chicago, Don Henley, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Sheryl Crow and many other artists. Michael Thompson has contributed with artists such as Roger Waters, Phil Collins, Madonna, Richard Marx, Christina Aguilera, The Corrs, Barbra Streisand, Shania Twain, Michael Jackson just to name a few. As evident on their contributions to this compilation their versatility to create guitar textures coupled with their soulful blazing chops have made them two of the most sought after guitarists of the world studio session scene.

For guitar freaks!
The Dream of the Electric Guitars Volume 1.
Another guitar album, but a great one! Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, Steve Lukather, Derek Sherinian, Michael Thompson join forces to make this a remarceble guitar CD.
This album is one of those you just have to own if you’re a guitar freak. Here are timeless tunes from “For The Love Of God” featuring Steve Vai, too more “unknown” tunes like “Cry For You” by Andy Timmons. All guitarists on this CD are doing one h**l of a job, making this worth adding to your collection. Recommended if you like awesome guitar music. I’m already waiting for The Dream of the Electric Guitars Volume 2. (5 Stars!)

Not Only For Guitar Freaks!
This is a top notch CD from top to bottom, not only for Guitar Freaks but even for fans of good music who might not know this musicians. Anybody who likes Pink Floyd, Steely Dan or even Coldplay will enjoy this CD. Not one song goes to waste. The talent of the different guitar players is coupled by the humility of their talents as they blaze through these beautiful songs. My favorite cuts are "Rita" & "Dark". This CD has not left my player since I got it a few days ago. If there was a way to give it more than Five Stars I would. It's THAT GOOD!!!!
