ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Blending ancient and modern instrumentation and spirit, Baltimore-based Telesma bridges the gap between primal and futuristic, setting itself apart from other bands in the music scene with their intoxicating sound and extra-ordinary live performances.

Telesma's unique sound, that has been labeled "electro-acoustic psychedelic world dance music", is driven by the primal voices of the didgeridoo (one of the oldest instruments in the world, 40,000 years), the kubing (bamboo mouth harp), tribal drums and percussion, and the human voice. These elements are fused with modern instruments including keyboards, guitar, bass, theremin, samplers, modern drums, and the unique homemade "manDrum" to create a trance-like pulse not unlike that heard in modern electronic dance music.

Stylistic elements that the band draws from include Middle Eastern and African drumming, Indian raga and kirtan, electronica (house, drum & bass, techno), psychedelic and hard rock, jazz, improvisational and dance music, as well as many fusions of those styles.

The debut full length album "O(h)M" is a journey through time and space, exploring the connection between the primative mind and modern technology.

WOW!!
It's hard to describe such an eclectic mix, but it totally works. This is a really tight band, and their musical moods are delicious. Sure wish they were around when I lived in D.C.!!! This CD is a keeper and is getting alot of play around my house. Well done!

Sweet.
Definitely, listening to this CD is a pleasure. The bass guitar is great, percussion very energetic and expressive, and the blaring guitar makes it all so powerful.

A Serendipitous Find
I discovered this sound when hearing it on a friend's page at MySpace. I listened to all the embedded tracks and really enjoyed them. Never heard the music or heard of Telesma before but found out how to get the CD. Very enjoyable.

Nelsons Ledges Quarrey
My husband, daughter and I saw Telesma at Nelsons Ledges for the first time this summer. We loved it!!! We have played our CD everyday. My daughter and I hula hoop (new to me but fun!) and this music is so much fun. I listen to it on the way to work. My husband and I have enjoyed it even later in the day (thank you, wink, wink!). The music is soothing, fun, energizing and yes a couple of our biker friends asked us for a copy for them! You\'re awesome!!! please come back to Nelsons! We\'ve talked to everyone there and they wish they wouldn\'t have missed it. You\'re infectious! Thank You

Very nice indeed!
It's nice to hear a world music blend that doesn't fall prey to that hole of new-age boringness. This CD is simultaneously exotic, dreamy and rocking. Taken as a whole, this is an enjoyable journey with each piece displaying its own character while also building a cohesive whole. You know, rather than just a disjointed collection of random tracks.

Yes, I'm quite pleased with this one and hope to catch them live next time I'm in the area.

3 thumbs up!
