The Paranormal Paradise

by Temporary Power

Interesting "thinking man's" rock, beautiful and full, in a daringly technical synth-guitar arena. Temporary Power's Paranormal Paradise is a most interesting instrumental musical endeavor.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"I have to mention that the making of Paranormal Paradise was amazing...quite fun actually...what an incredible time to be alive as a musician!"

The title may appear slightly misleading(and by the way, it ain't as scary as you might think).

Temporary Power's "Paranormal Paradise" doesn't really deal with science, nor does it investigate the paranormal.

Mike explains it best:
"The topic of this CD is the giant differences between science's weights and measures and religion's deeper meaning into the grand picture."

The CD's tracks seem to be a rather cool ongoing musical journey about the unknown.

"This CD is brought to you by the number 3; I get that there are three main communities when it comes to phenomena in general: "Goofy New Agers, who accept the paranormal in the context of an absolute thing in their broader quest for spiritual knowledge, wide eyed and naive parapsychologists, who define paranormal phenomena to include a narrow range of phenomena for which they seek a scientific basis and skeptics or non-believers, who adamantly oppose all paranormal beliefs and claims."

If you are anything like most music lovers, you are ready for a great imagination and mind adventure...so take it up a notch with the music of Temporary Power!

"Our rich American culture also has a huge sub or para-culture heavily into music. It is within this para-culture that these three ways of thinking construct our little worlds."

This is the daring and adventurous stuff you have been looking for that you can't always find just anywhere; music you can stimulate your imagination with as the one and only Temporary Power brings you an incredible world of wonder and speculation.

"I live for imagination fuel...I can't get over how great it is to make music and all these great feelings are just a mere listen away...this is what really excites and inspires me as a human being."

Excellent modern musical composition is the key ingredient in this cool mind blowing experience!

"I don't care what anybody says, there is only one way to KEEP IT REAL...work really hard...and do your art!"

You are invited to a world of music created with pure artistic intention in mind. Love for music, love for life, love for recording, love of the imagination and creativity and appreciation for the listener with the simple need to share great music with the world!

"I have poured my heart into this music project, driven from a place deep within to get these songs recorded and out into reality."

Many, many hours of practice and many sleepless nights and self sacrifice go into making a good recording dream a reality.

"No doubt being a musician is a rather strange experience at times and a sacrifice for family and friends, too, so I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with all that time I have put into my craft and the countless hours put in the studio...it is what it takes to make this happen."

Mike had been a part of the South Florida music scene for many years now, dedicated to playing bass and guitar in bands like Barabbas Conspiracy, Centurion 6 and Profacy.

"I hope you will enjoy my solo efforts in the Temporary Power projects, where I have found the priceless artistic freedom to create this very unique and powerful musical art form."

This unique musical offering to is a musical photograph, incorporating incredible guitar washes of tone and effects and the progressive song writing nature of Temporary Power projects.

"I've really enjoyed blending my love of sci-fi, the paranormal and progressive rock into this tightly woven musical journey and had to completely find that zone where we trust ourselves as musicians on this CD, daring to strike out into the unknown even more."

Just what the world needs!
This is the kind of music the world needs more of! Thought provoking and accurate musical portrayal of interesting concepts about the world of the paranormal. Not much music like this but it would be great if there was more. In the meantime thanks for a great recording!

You're on to something here!
There is much more to this cd than what meets the eye. It packs a musical punch as well as a mental one. It starts with the kind of questions we all need to ask and it does so with great artistic expression in a great artistic medium. I say keep doing great music and go for it!

Scary radical and challenging undertaking...
Matt J. Weilder Music reviewer for the Island Music News Source.

This is the article regarding Mike's new album, Paranormal Paradise from Temporary Power Records. I give it a five star rating.

And you think your house is haunted? Let me introduce to you a channeled album, if you will, Paranormal Paradise by singer and song scribe for South Florida's unknown Universe.

The name acutely describes the vibe of the meticulously constructed eleven track effort.

Mike Ward with Rock and Roll roots fused with the respect for unknown Paranormal activity captures the essence ot that which is hidden. It would be disservice and limiting to stop with that alone. This album requires listening skills to fully experience the mantra like songs that evoke deep meditation and thought.

Intelligent rock.
The trademark of the Temporary Power sound has always been about transcending stereotypes and genres. A mix of scorching guitar mood setting rock fury and killer guitar, the new album from Florida based guitarist Mike Ward is without a doubt one of the best rock-new age fusion albums of 2001.

The CD achieves sonic power at 11. Tracks like 22nd Century Lullaby and Broken Wing go far to reassure rock fans that Paranormal Paradise is clearly more than just another groovy guitar album...it's a freakin' great guitar rock album.

According to Mike "It's true that as much as I enjoy composing the material for Temporary Power and the incredible freedom that exists in my home studio, I also love the sort of flexibility of playing exactly what is in my head, unaffected by having other band members barking out their ideas at me. In the past some times the songs went beyond the original composition to an unrecognizable place to their deficit."

Mike is masterful at mixing mysterious and moody new age guitar settings with a more upbeat, almost hard rock instrumental guitar-based sound. A refreshing new guitar album filled with enchanting musical grooves, Paranormal Paradise will be the ticket to further establishing Temporary Power with a whole new market of American guitar devotees.

The recent album by guitarist and composer, Mike Ward, is a veritable feast for guitar fans of all ages. More New Age in scope than say jazz or just new age, PP covers the bases when it comes to merging a wealth of guitar genres and beautiful guitar synth possibilities. Mixing acoustic / electric guitars and everything else to great achieve moving effects, the CD ranges from dreamy, meditative new age instrumentals to a more compelling and progressive instrumental sound.

PP absorbs into your mind and fills your listening space with peace and power, drawing the listener in rather than forcing the ear to bend to musical crap like most things out there nowadays.

The music ranges from a Beethoven pastoral kind of vibe to music echoing the spirit of Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix with some soaring melodic guitar phrasings.

Very few guitarists mix acoustic and electric playing within the frame of one song as well as Mike and his Temporary Power project. Each album is a picture and I am so enthused Mike gets to further cultivate his audio ideas with each new release.

The South Florida guitar ace Mike Ward follows up his wide ranging Temporary Power collection of CDs from past years with this truly wonderful new solo album of Paranormal magnitude.

Entirely different in scope from his work with the progressive rock band Centurion 6, Temporary Power is the perfect showcase for Mike's guitar virtuosity as well as his love of ambient guitar sounds.

In the spirit of icons like Steve Howe and Steve Vai, Mike demonstrates that diversity is his great strength as a guitarist.

Progressive guitar skill is often paramount to the spark of the imagination, yet it's quite clear Mike's prodigious talent and training makes Paranormal Paradise much more than just another solo guitar CD.

This 11 track wonder is filled with an hour of one of a kind guitar craft and is supremely relaxing album of enchanting guitar work which guitarists and Progressive Rock fans of any persuasion will enjoy.

Originally inspired by the hot licks of shred-guitar masters such as Satriani, Vai and Van Halen, Mike has taken the selfish babylike and endless even mindless guitar noodling to a much better musical place. "I believe that my style and sound have been shaped by musicians who were inspired by the ability to shred, but I'm sort of a second generation type where the song is most important factor."

Written, recorded and produced by Mike, Paranormal Paradise serene but stimulating - an album filled with many abstract compositions.

Sort of a cross between Geddy Lee and Robert Fripp, the latest CD from guitarist Mike Ward is a journey into the nether regions of mind and heart.

Described by the artist himself as "One of many pathways to a larger reality", the album was written, performed and recorded by Mike on an assortment of musical gear: synth, acoustic, electric and bass guitars. Inspired by some of Rush's earlier albums such as the Prog classic Hemispheres, Mike's unique musical approach is a mystical trip into introspective and hypnotic realm.

From minimalist techniques to full on power immerses the listener in their own private zone and provides the perfect pause for musical meditation and even motivation.

Mike Ward had again provided on Paranormal Paradise a new listening experience, clearly influenced by the classics such as Paganini, Bach and Vivaldi - and blending the love of middle eastern and far east music, this is enthusiam turned reality and colorful musical rendezvous for fans looking for thinking man's music and of course, guitar enthusiasts alike.

This album is a little scary.
The first track scared the sweet B-Jesus out of me. I don't like to be scared so much but it reminded me of Tony Iommi in some spots. Great for Halloween parties.

Very excellent music. A student of higher learning and awareness.
There is much to be said about this very good cd. Enjoy the music and take a reading on your electromagnetic meter as you do so. Mine went off the charts.

what a rush...
We all need something to stir up the soup in life once in a while...pull us out of a rut. This cd did that for me! I am a musician too and I know sometimes our greatest feat is to just be ourselves and different than the sheep being led to slaughter. Stand alone or alone you will stand.

Nothing can compare to overall sound from this music and will be great for many years more with a very bright future ahead..!!!!!

The Quintessential Mood Guitar Album!
Having heard 3 decades of guitar music, I can appreciate the creativity behind this album. Being a guitar enthusiast, I can appreciate the soul it takes to make an album like this, and being a musician, I mostly appreciate the inspiration this album brings to my imagination.
