ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This music is definately for anyone looking for music that is filled with amazing song writing, great guitar riffs and energized guitar solos. The whole album moves prefectly from one track to the next and makes for great music that you will enjoy over and over again! Awesome melodic guitar voicings create dramatic musical impressions. "The Abyss" is a musical venture for the lover of progressive rock idealism. Energized and fun, this is an imagination escape through a musical journey where the concept is of paramount importance. You will enjoy time and time again this wonder filled exploration of sound. The basis of Temporary Power's 2005 album, "The Abyss" is based on "The Dark Abyss", a short science fiction story written by Mike Ward:

"The Dark Abyss"

There is a certain group of alien opportunists who have lived on the edge of a great abyss in an dark and elaborate society for just over 35,000 Earth years. These uncreational demons of the unvierse are recently becoming very interested in the present state of mankind and Earth. Nearby this dark black hole abyss of unimaginable proportions is where these aliens reside in the 12th dimension. This unimaginable abyss was created nearly a half of a million years ago when two completley different black holes (in different sectors of the universe) met with a stange and powerful electromagnetic energy. 6 million years in the making, these seperate abysses have now formed one huge and dark super abyss. They have pulled into each other, thus creating a physics defying dark and horrible matter.

The aliens are known as the Frasloir and they choose to dwell dangerously close to the super abyss because of the cosmic opportunities it presents for them to travel via multidimensional spirals. These aliens gain their power by the altering of planets after certain failures in evolution occour in a given species by the continued unconscious negative choices which affect the collective energy fields by the inhabitants of any given planet. Their latest attention is turned toward our solar system. They want to excercise their own universal cosmic rights to obtain the protected planet that Earth is (protected by positive energy fields). Protected by Creator Gods which can not hold back the floodgates as the present collective free will state of mankind is far too negative. The lovely powerful jewel that planet Earth is a much desired prize that the Frasloir would prefer to alter in their own image.

Many solar systems have already been destroyed by other long gone races of alien beings thoughout the universe. Beings which have sometimes inhabited these solar systems for eons. Inevitably these beings seem to loose reverence for their solar systems and grow massive egos. Their massive chaos and destruction happens when they reach a point in their own evolution where they tamper with their own suns and planets; creating abysses in the universe. Given proper time and positive energy where everybody wins, the cosmic right to powerfully evolve happens when a species (anywhere in the universe) can transcend through awareness the unconscious false reality of force.

Meanwhile in our current solar system, our very own NASA have begun experimenting with the perfect nuclear reactor that our sun is. The major problem is that NASA is presently unaware of the incredible dangers that these experiments can present. These experiments which consist of using electromagnetic energy to chart the nuclear reactions has the unspeakable potential to implode the sun and cause a black hole super nova.

The beginning of many other problems on Earth start with the destruction of many of Earth's undiscovered magnetic fields by the another NASA project; the terraforming of Mars. The disaster comes from attempting to make the planet Mars conform to our human standards. The thinking is flawed and unevolved, thus dangerous. The cosmic physics presents Mars not a dead rock (nor is any other planet) but rather a living entity, a metaphysical and cosmic life form, which in an of itself is in a state of aliveness that we have not even scratched the surface of discovering in our present state of evolution.

Mars as a planet life form already has plans to eventually arise from its presently perfect state. Over time it will converge into a different reality in several million years, all on its own accord without our interferance. The Frasloir are unfortunately aligned negatively and are opportunistic aliens which are ready to capitalize off these impending human disasters.

Luckily, there is another group of aliens with a more positive disposition with hidden UFO stations in the North Pole. The Earth's artic circle presently houses benevolent multi dimentional spacecraft creatures (where the spacecraft and alien beings are as one). These beings go in and out of a dimensional reality through the Auras of Earth, what we call the Northern Lights. These aliens move around the world and are doing so from the realm of 11th dimension. The beings are known as Pradgulians; they are powerful beings in the bendable nature of these dimensional realites. Pradgulians are evolving as well and gain a deeper understanding of the universe by aiding us in our human development; preferring to see the evolution of mankind as an evolved and intelligent species. Two groups of aliens couldn't have any more different of intentions; yet both groups are waiting on what mankind does next. Both of these alien groups have certain universal rights to aid or destroy depending on what we choose collectively as a species. This is an imcomprehensible power given by the Creator Gods. The Earth would prefer the Pradgulian's assistance. If we stay more peaceable and positive this incredibly positive multi leveled dimensional interplay will occour. There are many enlightened beings who can aid mankind in evolution and teach us to travel the stars.

Even though the Frasloir prefer to take the planet, they can only do so with a type of cosmic legality involved. It depends on the collective choices we make as human beings. Too much negativity can bring about these negative changes which is definately for the worse. There is an ever present danger in every living species with an ego to have no reverence for the grand system which the universe is. Will Earth's human kind wake up out of the collective ego driven slumber before it is too late? There is a very dangerous destructive thinking in suggesting there is no purpose to anything. We pretend to know everything; we actually know very very little. The message of the higher beings reveals that the ego of man hates to know very little. So we violently poke, prod and dissect everything we see. Behold the butterfly that the planets and the sun and the stars are...do not rip it apart. The universe is far too noble of an entity to put up with such stupidity.

The End.

Thank you for taking the time to read my short story. It is actually a story I have been noodling around with for a few years now. I knew it would be an interesting challenge for me. Being a guitarist in Temporary Power is so much fun and even after 20 years of playing, my relationship with the guitar still grows and grows. I compete with my self to get better at playing. The focus is on songwriting. That is most important to me. Since the subject matter was rather complex, the right vibe coming through in the songs was most imperative.

I wanted all the technical bells and whistles and even the engineering to compliment the nature of the short story. The story is a constant source of inspiration for the next record as The Dark Abyss will share in the conceptual nature of the next CD.

I can't thank you enough for checking out Temporary Power.

Power behind this music.
This CD has a lot of power and emotion behind it. I liked this so much I have to check out the others!

I really hope these guys are British.
I gave the record a few good solid listens, and thoroughly enjoyed it …but then I thought to myself, “Are they Brits, or are they just blokes faking a right good Brit rock thing?” That question is yet to be answered . But if you can get past that, it’s quite enjoyable. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary, but sometimes it’s good to feel familiar with something the first time you hear it. “Cause Effect,” however, is a wonderfully honest portrayal of complete rock guitar mania. The only bugger is that the last slower track, starts to feel like like you are having a near death experience when you listen to it.

Yes they are kings of the Florida power rock heap.
One of the leading originators of this kind of metal down here, these guys have (thus far, anyway) opted to stay true to their roots, playing ugly, intense get in your mind guitar heavyweight noise power rock instead of caving in to the demands of a wussy MTV type of audience the way that Metallica and Megadeth does(not that I would ever knock Metallica, but you gotta admit that ”load” is the appropriate name I mean it isn't exactly “a non load of shit"). At first, all their stuff sounds awfully familiar kind of like the early stuff never that boring duhduhdhuhduh or chagachagachagachaga or juddajuddajuddajudda. You know what I mean so fuck you. Abyss has Mike the wailing evil guy soloing on top, and the more recent stuff is up tempo eerie notes guitar driven rock. Heavy mids with a bitter angry screaming power chunk(the good kind). The more you become familiar with the individual songs, you discover how cool these power hooks can be and that you never dreamt were ever there. Then, next thing you know, YOU'RE BLOODY HOOKED! It's so very easy to become a fan of this shit because, between all the generic garbage shit out there is here is some of the finest solos my head has ever had the chance to fancy. And no stupid lyrics? Yes. No stupid lyrics. If you can't deal with the real thing, be sure to stay away, but if you've got the ability to hear good from shit, you must try Temporary Power. They're pretty darn goog for the most part….even if you never heard “out there” type of guitar bands like this.

Hi Mike! I want to say thanks and how much I enjoyed playing bass with you on "Station" and I am looking forward to you working with you on my new solo album. You rock!

Abyss is GRRRREAT!
Buy the CD now before Mike is famous and you can be some of the first people to have the CD and you can say how you discovered one of the best rock bands in the world before hardly anyone else. Temporary Power is gonna blow up so big it will smother yo mama!

Very interesting thoughts on the universe.
There seems to be alot of good mental interplay happening here with a good balance between the creation of the music and the story lines involved. Not only would this make a good moral premise for a movie, but it would be thought provoking and entertaining as well. Many epic qualities are present and there is good interplay between all the instruments. I am so happy I stumbled across it. It is just amazing to me!

Temporary Power never, ever compromises.
Not only has Temporary Power never compromised their style they have never faultered and gone to make rubbish. Consistetly good, driven underground...yes...but what a better place to be. Where else could music like this be? It is perfect there where it is.

This album is amazing. Slow, mean, heavy, catchy, with great guitar and the first track...oh my sweet God… all I can say is what an album. No wonder it's not won some kind of stupid award or in a hall of fame somewhere. Those solos at the beginning of the album and the way the drums in the left speaker introduces "Midnite Flight to Mars" with a riff that belongs in a guitar mag or something. It's little touches like this that turn a good rock album into a F@#&*ING AMAZING EXPERIENCE! ! ! And I cannot say enough about the power of this album and even the slow songs don't ruin the overall effect, thanks to talent. Oh and while I'm at it Sacred Geometry was a cool album too and it is chockfull of good music and actually it was such a good album that I thought of course, everyone was bound to be disappointed with the new ones, because there was no way TEMPORARY POWER was going to be able to top it, but Abyss may have.

Man, Great effort!
Obviously this cd has not only a good all around sound excellence but also is full of great musicanship, too. Give it a listen. You not only will not be dissapointed, you will be blown away!

Not the run of the mill flava of the week.
Just listen and you're hooked. It is much better than I could have imagined any instrumental music could ever be. A living story where the music does all the talking.... Fantastic fantasy rock!!!
