ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The young Seattle recording artist's sound is often described as an "emotional voice you can feel”, yet Tess prefers to think of herself as a songwriter who strives to write musically rich, addictive songs that appeal to all ages. Her music has been compared to the likes of Alicia Keys and Norah Jones, but Tess’ vibe refines the tapestry of neo-soul into her own smooth silk. The largest soul site in America, Soul Tracks, adds, “Henley as a vocalist doesn’t suffer from being compared to Alicia Keys. Both eschew the breathy little girl sound that is the rage these days. Henley, like Keys, opens her mouth and gives a full-throated vocal that sounds mature, passionate and believable.”

Tess' Italian heritage, complete with huge family dinners, may have unknowingly been the inspiration for the titling of her new EP, The Appetizer. The EP is the follow-up to her first CD, Easy To Love. Tess explains the five song EP was meant to "hold listeners over until the main course” of a second full-length CD is done next year. The EP is loaded with a diverse mix of talent, including a duet with another popular Seattle voice, Mycle Wastman. Together with Easy To Love’s co-producer, David Thomson (Soul Sound Studios), this remix of Understand It's You appears on the Japanese version of Tess' first CD. The classically trained pianist has been playing since age three, and with professional reviewers like Soul Tracks spreading the word, people are beginning to know her music. In fact, eight of Tess’ songs just received buy offers from a top five international act. A recent University of Washington graduate, Tess will be augmenting local shows with tour appearances. During this process, Tess will "definitely be keeping an eye on my main course (CD#2) slowly simmering in the kitchen!"
