This is Substitute Texas:
Your Premium Provider of Country Trash Entertainment takes you on a journey through Substitute Texas – a State of Mind, where men are Men and women are Women (and some find themselves somewhere inbetween...)
The lyrics seek to describe the various facets of life in trailer parks and on lonely highways. The music draws inspiration from a wide variety of Country & Western themes, spiced up with various rootsy influences. The result is a unique blend of cowpop, down-to-earth gospel, low down blues, double Y chromosome ballads, shack rock, trailer park muzak, bonkers bluegrass and adult Americana.
texmachine was established early 2009, a decade after infamous singer/songwriter Arve "Harvey" Hjalmar left his redneck birthplace Tröndelag (Norway) for southernmore regions (Belgium).
After a long and hard search for band members, texmachine finally includes six more brilliant honky tonk operators: David Henriksson (Sweden), Sofie Schoevaerts (Belgium), Douglas Bonnewijn (Erps-Kwerps), Jan Schoevaerts (Belgium), Michel De Smet (Belgium) and Foz Lester (Australia). Rehearsing in the legendary roots/folk joint Café Toogenblik in Brussels (www.toogenblik.be), this ambitious bunch is determined to embark on new musical adventures and to promote their powerful Country Trash music.
Since July 2009, texmachine has been picking up more and more steam, regularly flabbergasting its audience with its intimate and intense performances. The repertoire has grown into a powerful set of original songs, both unique and recognizable, both avant-garde and traditional.
