Album Notes
I've been rappin for 9 years. I figure if you've got talent you can make music about anything so why not make it about what's most important in the world?

I rap about poverty, non violence, anti conformity, anti greed, the environment, the need for equality, tolerance, and unity for all people and a lot more topics that I feel need to be heard.

To improve the world we live in we need to shift the focus off of greed - we need to stop the rich from getting richer and start sharing the world's resources. People are dying from starvation while others have so much food they throw it out. People are also dying in pointless wars stemming from greed, intolerance, and division in society.

I am all about activism through hip hop. I don't follow trends I start them. I'm a Non Conformist. I was named Tha Truth because people pointed out that this is what I bring through my lyrics. People need to see hip hop doesn't have to be the way it is. It wasn't always this way. It was about music. About expression. Before large multinational corporations came in and took it over. Nowadays everybody wanna act like Scarface and talk about their money, jewels, rims, and guns. I know corporations would like for hip hop to stay this way... Then we can all remain stupid and not question the greed, violence, and corruption that surround us in society. They are keeping people stupid and shallow and focused on trivial things. Money does not earn true friends it attracts fake people who want you for your money. Violence doesn't get respect it gets you dead or in prison in time. As people we need to stop supporting the corporation's strangle hold on hip hop and support independent artists.

It takes REAL skills to talk about real issues and to display real intelligence while still keepin the music hot. It takes real strength to be a leader and to not follow the crowd but to lead it. This is what I do. Listen to my music and recognize how hip hop has the potential to bring people powerful messages about social change, social justice and awareness.

I attend many rallies, events, benefits, marches, etc but you can find me in the streets any given day bringin the message through my music. We can't often find "Tha Truth" on major television or radio stations (which are owned by souless, greedy, corporations) but we can find it in real music like the kind I make.

A man once said "The world is my country, all of human kind is my family, and to do good is my religion." This is how I feel.

An intelligent artist anyone can listen to
I first came across the music from this CD on Truth's website. I found the F Bush song and couldn't help but listen to more. After listening to what was available on his site and myspace page I decided to buy the CD. It was more than worth the price. Truth's Cd is one that makes you think about society but does it in a way that will hit more people. I also aprreciate that it is a CD my children can listen to with me. SOulful Reflection and ONe race are two tracks I am most hooked on.

Great album!
This CD is full of inspiring material. Great qualilty work and great messages that every human should hear! You won't be disappointed with ANY of the tracks on this CD. Each one is great. It's refreshing to listen to good rap for a change, and also to listen to lyrics that are positive and make you want to do something better in this world. Enjoy!

Tha TRUTH has finally arrived for all the ignorant minded peeps of the world. Shake off your negativity stereotypes of humanity and buy Tha TRUTHS CD!! You will learn more than you ever have from your school and college course. The TRUTH has come to rule the world with his lyrical smart bombs that unmask the UNTRUTHS of the world............THE WORLD THA TRUTH RULES..........

I'm Impressed
I'm from the Pittsburgh area and I got your album when I was out in Philly and was impressed with your delivery/flow/intelligent content of lyrics (rap/hip-hop has gone downhill man, lol)! It would be a shame if you didn't get noticed because your not w/ a major label, so it's Mr. grass roots here to help spread/plant the seed!

this is such a great cd! i love it!
this cd is such a good buy! if you are for peace and equallity then you should love this cd just like i do. i think that the idea of being so political is awesome because there is not that many political rappers out ther but tha truth is deffinetly one of my favorite most inspirational rappers.

~The "WOW-Effect" everytime I listen to it~
First of all I'm from Germany and out here the Rap Industry is changing to Bling Bling and Money Things! I don't say I'm against that, all I want to say is THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS PEOPLE LIKE THE TRUTH! That debut is THE TRUE MESSAGE combined with music.
Specially to the music I can say the are maybe some beats you know and the most you don't but all of them are perfectly matching to Truths voice and his special flow and the beats are all diversified (and that one with the guitars is going to blow your head into the right way!). Every song got his own little positive message and if you combine them all it's one big message that can help you to go through your next day on this earth.
I Don't know what else to say but you need to copy this cd no matter where you from or who you are, the president of the US or a lil hot dog seller!! Dont miss it! Think postitive!
From Germany yours truely,

I first came across "Tha Truth" via myspace, beyond all the dire, tired excuses for people that decide to label themselves as "artists" in a community desperate for exposure. I spoke with him a few times prior to purchasing any of his music, and in all honesty it was probably his ingenuous and attentive personality that inspired me to look into his work further. It is so refreshing to speak with an artist who is willing to be acquainted with the people that take an interest in their work. Afterall, it is the fans that determine the fate of the music.

So, eagerly awaiting the arrival of the CD through the post, one typified stone cold morning in Wales came three loud knocks at the front door. I grabbed the parcel from the postman, tossed the receit aside and ripped the music straight onto my laptop hardrive. "Get it right, its the truth, its the truth" began in echo as the album "Tha Civil Rights Movement" kicked in.

What surprised me most of all when I settled into the album was how softly spoken "Tha Truth" actually was. His message is ultimately challenging and refreshing to hear and it is almost unthinkable that a man could keep his composure so well when he feels so passionate about the dynamics of our everyday living. If you're expecting for furious lyrical outbursts encouraging violence and carnage then you're looking in the wrong place here. Don't be put off by this though. Instead, Truth prefers to preach his knowledge and message to the listeners in notion that they interpretate their own belief. In "I Know" we have an example of an emcee true in self-belief, motivated to change and unyielding to the government's methods. Positivity is the key in dismissing all the negativity of guns, hoes, gangsters and thug mentality that has become the common ideology of the Hip Hop genre in the present day media.

"Ignorence is bliss [...] so reality goes amiss" (Track 3, Karma)

As with all genres of music, I strongly urge people to look beyond the commercial scene for something new and refreshing and support the lesser-known artists who are pushing for effect and change. Even for the non hip-hop listeners who are looking for something different I recommend you to pick up this album and support The Non Conformist Movement. Now at $6 can you really ignore its message, espcially when positive, conscious music is the medium here?

Excellent Album!
‘Tha Civil Rights Movement Part 1’ is an excellent first album! All the tunes fit well together, including the backing tracks, the rapping, and the meaningful lyrics. And the speech-only tracks (‘Live From the Street’ and ‘Words from Logic’) add an interesting and welcoming variation to the rest of the sounds. ‘Soulful Reaction’ does indeed sound soulful, and ‘Truth Intro,’ ‘One Race’ and ‘The Right One’ also sound really good, though I particularly liked the version of ‘It’s Time’ and the catchy and chilled ‘Rhymes Anonymous’ and 'F Bush'

the cd is wonderful
Finally a great rap cd with some 'Truth' to it. If you want to be enlightened and enjoy some wonderful music at the same time, it's the cd for you. These folks are incredibly real and incredibly talented. ...and the price is right!
