Album Notes
this is the fourth and most recent solo album from dobro monster lloyd Thayer. It contains his most recent songs, mostly written in the year 2003, and recorded in may of 2004. The fourteen songs contain and interesting mix of raw acoustic delta style blues and slightly quieter songs that tell stories of love, loss, joy, healing, growth, and walking through life with a resonator guitar on your lap.......
downbeat magazine says "irritable wit soaks the words to arresting originals"......and the Long Island Blues Society says : "lloyd Thayer is a man who takes pictures of himself with a cinder block inserted as his head. His dobro lap steel artistry is renowned in his hometown of Brockton , MA and in the subway stations and flop houses of Harvard square. After 12 years in the band "Nobody" he went out solo but not until after transmuting Ozzy's hits into a bluegrass manifesto. You never know what he'll do next when armed with a musical saw, didgeridoo, sitar, harmonica, clarinet, hurdy gurdy and bass but if he took the time to relearn 300 of his own songs for his new solo career, you can expect something strangely wonderful. "
steve crafts says: "I just don't get to hear enough of the kind of music you play....and hardly ever hear it live. I just want to let you know how much I dig listening to you"
and last but certainly not least, dobro master stacy phillips, author of The Complete Dobro Player, and a plethora of other dobro books says: "His maniacal pose cannot disguise a seriously innovative player who is creating a unique musical path".
none of those things should make you want to buy the cd, but they can be amusing if read the right way......
till next time.

Wide Awake Dobro Intelligentsia Blues: A great CD!
Dobromeister-bluesman Lloyd Thayer is very cool and his new Big Heart CD is fantastic. I got to listen to this awesome CD on a solo eight-hour drive through the Berkshire mountains. Volume up, crankin’, repeatin’ tracks, listenin’, Oh, man. If you like dobro, you’ll love Big Heart. But Dobro’mazing Lloyd Thayer also scribes some wicked lyrics. Like all good songs, they keep getting better the more you listen and absorb. Flood me, Lloyd. I’m only hours into this CD, but here are some lyrical highlights of my current favorites.
#4 - Concrete Island: “Someday we’ll be shining all together, On that shore across the sea, I hope to meet you there my friend, Where we’re all wide awake and free.”
#6 – Flat World: (where words and Dobro match perfectly) “And why did jesus never mention, If he knew the earth was round, And how am I to know the reasons, For this sadness we have found. So what about the flat world? Everyone believed in that then, It’s kind of funny looking back now.” (Excellent vocal accompaniment by Boston folk music star Lisa Bastoni – also #10.)
#12 – Desolation Row (Bob Dylan): This is the BEST interpretation of Desolation Row I’ve ever heard! Can’t get enough of this one.
#10 – Whole Heart: “Let your big heart set you free, From all the things you think you know, Let your big heart take you, Where your small mind won’t go.”
-- I can live by that. Push that Add to Cart button and start listening to some great music. Your mind will thank you. Highly recommended.

Big Heart - lloyd at his best!
lloyd Thayer has graced us yet again with a wonderful release of dobro laced blues. The listener can hear the base of traditional blues in Big Heart, but lloyd takes it even a step further. He expands on the traditional blues by personalizing each cut in a way that only an artist with a truly "Big Heart" can. The addition of Lisa Bastoni's background vocals on "Flat World" and "Whole Heart" add a touch that cannot be surpassed. This is one CD not to be missed...Highly recommended!!!

Big on heart, big on soul
The music on this album just a sensational outpouring of Lloyd Thayer's very big heart. He plays great dobro, sings heartfelt songs with a voice just made for the blues - listen to his rendition of Bod Dylan's Desolation Row to see what I mean. If you are looking for acoustic delta blues - this album has it all.
