It’s one of humanity’s enduring instincts to wonder about the world we live in. We are intrigued, not just by our immediate habitat but also by anything beyond our practical everyday boundaries. Something inside of us aches to reach out and see, feel, hear, smell and taste the flavors of whatever place is calling out for us from such distance. It captures our imagination.
Every generation has its share of famous explorers. Be it Marco Polo, David Livingstone or Neil Armstrong, each one of these pioneers felt a drive to pack his bags and set out to experience the unknown perks and pleasures of scouting uncharted lands. They are among the few who were in the position to answer this calling, the exceptional devotees who faced the challenges and made the sacrifices such endeavor demands from us.
All of them came back to tell us stories and share their memories. They help satisfy our collective curiosity, while simultaneously keeping our dreams awake: Our hope to one day smell those scents and sense those vibrations. Until then, we can only dream.
With Distant Dreams, the Amnis Initiative offers a musical peek into those far off places that may or may not exist, somewhere beyond the horizon.
