When you talk about the real roots of rock and roll, one name that most stands out is THE CLOVERS! Founded by Harold Lucas, they began singing together in high school and signed with Atlantic Records in 1950, beginning an unbelievable string of fifteen number one records on the Rhythm and Blues charts, influencing every vocal group that followed throughout the ensuing decades.
Over the years, some members voluntarily left the act, but Harold Lucas kept touring and recording with carefully-chosen replacements, and by the 1980's, the act had evolved to Harold Lucas, John Bowie, Johnny Mason and Steve Charles.
