Jazz guitarist Dale Bruning asked guitarist Bill Frisell if he was familiar with the music of Charlie Parker. Bill said no. From this early beginning in 1969, these two men have enjoyed their relationship as musicians and good friends. And hasn't time brought about enormous changes for both of them as Jazz Masters? The same is true, of course, of bassist Michael Moore. He and Dale worked together on Dale's first CD on the Jazz Link Enterprises label - Tomorrow's Reflections in 1995 - and they, too, have emerged as good friends - personally and musically.
The energy that is shared among these three monster players is felt, indeed, by the audiences fortunate enough to hear them at Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge in Denver, CO in March of 2012. The three men played originals, standards, bebop, music from The Great American Songbook, and bossa nova tunes. Bill shared that during one of his lessons with Dale in 1969, Dale played a record, which featured Michael Moore on it, and now here he is working with him for the first time.
Bill can also be heard on another of Dale's CDs - Reunion - on the JLE label and Mike is heard on Conference Call, The Timeless Music of Harold Arlen, The Timeless Music of Harry Warren, and Tomorrow's Reflections - all on the JLE label with Dale Bruning as leader.
Enjoy the spellbinding music found here on Just Between Us - a song written by Charles Eakin - as these three music magicians enjoy sharing their talent with each other and the audience.
