What kind of music do The Georges play? It's hard to pin down one genre. Like their 50's and 60's heroes before them, the guys blend different styles of music into a confection of catchy roots rock that defies pigeonholing. One thing is for sure, it's got shades of Buddy, traces of The Beatles, and also dashes of Bakersfield cum Dwight Yoakam.
Formed in 2009, The Georges are at their heart, Jason George, Jacob Beck, and Lance Beck. While their music is best described as Rockabilly, the band focuses on single-centric Countrified Rock N' Roll diddies that might have topped the charts a few years ago before the Pro-Tools created, electronically engineered style of music that rules the industry today. Starting out in Texas as a 60's inspired British Invasion style rock band, their sound slowly evolved to accomodate the dance hall loving Texans they were playing to. Known for their wild stage shows, the guys wanted to make a record that condensed the raw sound and high energy of their live sets into a single disc of original tunes. After a few years, they had enough material for a full record and Cool Your Heels was finished. Download it, or do the ol' fashioned thing and buy the CD, pop it in and get ready for a dash of retroid cool that pays homage to the giants of old, all while sounding fresh, modern and full of energy as they take you on a ride full of Rockabilly perfection.
So, how best to describe the music? Rockabilly? Rocky-Tonk? Country even? It's The Georges, and it's guaranteed to make you shake.
