Get your war paint on!
Genre-bending, dynamically defiant, and bursting with urgency, The Gypsy West are “an outstanding fusion and listening experience” (The Deli NYC).
Rooted deep in catchy grooves and heavy psychedelia, they blend progressive precision with great songwriting. Wearing war paint and barefoot, their live show is an energetic tour de force. Described as, “intimate, breathless…this
lean trio stomps with the ferocity of a deadly orchestra” (Maine Switch), the Gypsy West have been captivating audiences all over the Northeast, particularly in their hometown of Brooklyn over the last few years.
They have shared the stage with such acts as Tim Reynolds Trio to Das Rascist on stages ranging from The Highline Ballroom (NYC) to StageOne (CT). Their album Accomplices, is an ambitious musical trilogy about revolution, told through three EPs that can be listened to separately or sequentially. A power trio of stellar musicians, the band consists of Alex Giorgetti (guitars, vocals, keyboards), Andy McCarthy (bass, vocals), and Davide Vossel (drums, percussion).
“The Gypsy West...stood out with intriguing melodies and harmonies of lead vocalist Alex Giorgetti and bassist Andrew McCarthy’s nuanced vocals. Giorgetti’s elaborate guitar work carried the band into moments of psychedelia, jazz, grunge, funk, and heavy rock” (The Deli NYC)
“Drabbed in war paint and bare feet...the band’s performance is partly laden with risk as well....kicking and jumping barefoot on an unpadded stage” (QRO)
"Combining the simplicity of post punk with the psychedelic flourishes and overtones of prog rock...one of the more energetic trios on the Brooklyn scene today" (Eventseekr)
“Relevant, powerful...The Gypsy West know their history and they are not afraid to go big..channeling early psychedelic, progressive, grunge, metal and tapping into an original source all their own, the Gypsy West make music that seems destined for big things” (EarTotheGround, Nashville blog)
“There are rarely moments of restraint in their music though listening to them creates something bottled up, waiting for a release from the listener. They focus on psychedelic rock, backed by cohesive, thematic lyrics...It’s refreshing to see a band have the scope a project like the Accomplices trilogy all without the backing of a record label” (Groove-Magazine)
