ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Like most holy things in life The Hank W. Rodgersons Gospel Experience was basically born out of nothing. It just happened to happen when Hans Egil was asked to put together a small ensemble for the local Salvation Army. As we all know the Salvation Army need money and they have with time become pretty good businessmen (and women). Musicians who are the best paid employees in today's society never say no when there is a possibility to help those who are less fortunate in life (whatever that means). The Salvation Army is very aware of this...

"Let's play some good old tunes in a trio format, Olav!" Hans Egil said over the phone on the 12th of December 2011. "They have a spot they need to fill and I thought we could do it since we only need a couple of tunes" he continued. Olav replied "I have some gospel songs I've been working on lately. We could rehearse and sing them. What do you think about that, Hans?". Before he got the chance to answer the question Hans and Olav shouted out in perfect angelic timing: "We need some female backing singers!". At that same second Torje called Olav and said: "Olav! I want to play in a gospel band!". Coincidence or not!? I called up the ladies, who now make up the female backing singers, and asked if they'd joins us. Even though they'd all told themselves that no way in hell would they join a new band, every single one of them responded with a yes, as if it came as an answer to a prayer from heaven itself! Coincidence or not?! The rest is history. On the 14th of December 2011 we played our first gig at Thime Station Bar in Bryne (one of Norways biggest cities).

We have since then decided to keep the band going. We have now played a couple of shows and the response has been better than we could have ever have dreamed of! Coincidence or not?!

The Hank W. Rodgersons Gospel Experience is inspired by such personalities as, yes you guessed it, Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers, and we aim to give you the kind of old school, hardcore, roadhouse type of Gospel one sings after having hit rock bottom. Where do you turn when you have less than nothing left? Where do you turn when the only bridge you haven't burned is the one you're standing on? Where do you turn when you have no where left to turn? The Hank W. Rodgersons Gospel Experience will turn any of the stones, big or small, that build-up our miserable lives regardless of what we risk finding under them. Do we praise THE Lord? Hell yeah! But in our way! Let's just hope THE Lord can handle the truth...
