ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Hot Rods were formed in December of 2005 and have now become one of the nation's premier touring rock and roll bands. Known for inventing their own genre of music made from blending rock, psychobilly and punk with a hint of southern rock they have truly defined their own sound. Catchy lyrics combined with musical hooks, The Hot Rods deliver a super high energy stage show with super high energy music. The Hot Rods have performed with Nashville Pussy, Honky, TH' Legendary Shack Shakers, Buckcherry and many others. The Hot Rods were a featured act on Myspace and were selected as a Pabst Blue Ribbon band of the week in 2006 and band of the month in 2007 in Atlanta's Creative Loafing news magazine. The Hot Rods now have a full endorsement from Pabst Blue Ribbon and Jack Daniel's. They are receiving stellar reviews in publications throughout the U.S. on an almost weekly basis. In the short time The Hot Rods have been together, venues have had record attendance and alcohol sales. The Hot Rods released their debut CD entitled "SUPER SPORT" in October of 2007. In 2008 The Hot Rods signed with Jonathan Hibbert to produce their second album. "Jonny" is best known for discovering and signing R.E.M. in the early eighties to his label Hib-Tone Records. The Hot Rods new self titled CD was released in March of 2009 through Universal Music Group. The Hot Rods are already receiving airplay on many college, commercial and internet radio stations. The Hot Rods are touring extensively throughout the U.S. in support of their releases. Look for a live concert DVD filmed on location in Atlanta to be released as well. The live DVD will be produced and directed by "TWISTED PRODUCTIONS" who worked with music legends GARY KURFIRST and CHRIS BLACKWELL on the video "PINK LIPSTICK" featuring LEMMY KILMISTER of "MOTORHEAD" fame......THE GODFATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hot Rods —Super Sport

Produced by Ross Childress

Can a rock band be officially endorsed by a beer company? Of course — when that company is Pabst Blue Ribbon, and that band is The Hot Rods. Never before has a band so completely embodied the spirit of a cheap, easy-drinking brew, and with their full-length debut, Super Sport, this psychobilly five-piece from Atlanta have seemingly resurrected a long-lost time in the history of rock 'n' roll — an era when souped-up cars, hot chicks, mean greasers and beer were as much a part of the music as the performers themselves.

The result is that on the surface, Super Sport's 12 tracks appear just as crude and tasteless as a warm can of PBR. But underneath a list of tracks with names like "Girl Girl Action" and "Speed Demon," The Hot Rods are skillfully and very deliberately channeling a musical culture that goes back to the late 1950s. Produced by Collective Soul's Ross Childress, the band's debut album employs an overall aesthetic that harkens back to the very roots of rockabilly and Southern rock — along with more contemporary hints of metal and punk — by way of short, simple songs laden with crunching electric guitars and a diverse range of bluegrass melodies.

Lead singer "Mug" Adler has a smooth, Southern voice that seems to perfectly complement the expert stylings of guitarists "Vegas" Dave and Fred McNeal, along with bassist Chad Beech and drummer Pat Turner. Ultimately, all five display equal parts energy and enthusiasm throughout Super Sport, with enough musical sensibility to clearly acknowledge their varied musical and cultural influences. With most other bands, such an approach could easily be written off as derivative or just plain banal, but The Hot Rods have managed to craft a complete album built on substance, wit, and yes — beer.

SUPER SPORT
I just bought the CD and I can say that the music is good. I didn't know before, I think I'll buy others.
You should do the same.

Call It Rock & Roll!!!
"It´s only Rock & Roll (but I like it)", could be the perfect title to qualify this fantastic album. Good rock with melody & energy 100%!!!

Pure Hedonistic Fun!
Every song on this cd is a winner. These guys blend together so well and are all amazingly talented. The lyrics are honest and fun and the music is incredible. Personal favorites are Slant Six, Sorority Girl and Led Sled, but I find myself singing them all. Great stuff!

David Tenney

I was expecting a Motorhead-like level of grimeyness, but these guys are not quite that grimey. The lyrics are much cleaner. This album is suitable for greasers to listen to while wrenching on thier '50s cars or while preparing to fight rival hot-rod gangs in white T-shirts.
