Seeds of Songs

by The Moor Rose

Ever heard bouzouki and cello together? How about a sweeping melodic line in a Moorish-influenced instrumental or an epic cello solo in a Roots-infused song? Well-crafted and distinct in the fusing of musical styles, with beautiful songs and sensational instrumentation.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Produced, recorded and mixed at Dog House Studio in Willunga SA, mastered by Mick Wordley at Mixmasters, The Moor Rose debut EP SEEDS OF SONGS is a wonderous mix of songs, sounds and sensations.

Formed in 2011, The Moor Rose features the tunes of talented, self-taught multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Stuart Haines, accompanied by the powerful, moving tones of classically-trained cellist and bass player David Rose. Together they play a diverse blend of Acoustic Folk, Roots and World Music.

Stuart is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bouzouki, flute, percussion), songwriter and composer. Being a self-taught musician (“unclassically untrained”, he muses), his intuitive & improvisational style creates uniquely soulful music & powerful music for the soul. Some of Stuart’s performance highlights include the Garden Of Unearthly Delights 2011, Harmonic Project with Heather Frahn, sold out Adelaide Fringe 2010 show “Ekata: Music, Voice, Dance” with Sacred Tribe Dancers and WOMADelaide in 2007 with South African performer Nigel “Snow Cloud” Martin.

Recognisable for his unruly hair, David has a passion for music and a repertoire spanning over three decades of eclectic performances. From hauntingly beautiful improvisations to session work with established artists, David’s incredible “feel” for the groove takes the listener on a journey of discovery. Performances at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Adelaide Fringe and the Bangalow Fatherhood Festival have provided an outlet for David’s musical exploration.
