LIVE MUSIC IS A POWERFUL THING
And there is nothing better than sharing it with others. So here you have it – ”Live in Japan” – dedicated to our wonderful live audience.
In April 2013 we had the opportunity to sing at Billboard Live Club in Osaka and Tokyo, and we decided to record these concerts. We set out to capture the cozy atmosphere that we feel when we sing at an intimate jazz club, and we will all remember those days in Japan.
The whole setting was great! Spring had arrived, the cherry trees were in full bloom, and as always, the Japanese people amazed us with their hospitality and friendliness. Last but not at all least, we had a truly enthusiastic crowd every night.
Some of the songs on this album have been on the repertoire for years but have never been recorded with Emma and Morten.
”Lucky Luke” was brand new, and the Daft Punk song ”Harder Better Faster Stronger” had been performed just a few times. The Nat ”King” Cole Evergreen ”Nature Boy” and ”Catching the Big Fish” have been with us for a while but only previously released as short films on YouTube. It was also a special treat to sing the Count Basie medley with the wonderful vocal percussionist Kaichiro Kitamura, whom we have known since our first trips to Japan quite some years ago.
Hopefully this album catches some of the spirit we experience when we meet our audience all over the world.
Domo Arigato! Thank you! Tack!
