Album Notes
The Righteous Hillbillies are an axe shredding, ace dealing, foot stompin’, Southern rock, high-powered Ameicana, boogie blues band that plays with talent and passion. They have built a strong, supportive, and loyal following throughout their hometown of Joliet, Illinois and into the Chicago area, and received three standing ovations while opening for The Charlie Daniels Band. The Righteous Hillbillies baptize their work in the blood of Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC, ZZ Top, and the Black Crowes while still managing to create an original and independent style. They make rock “n” roll music for people who still believe in rock “n” roll music. Their well crafted songs and quality of playing has earned the respect of musicians from every genre of music, while many have become an extended family of the band. Lead vocalist Brent James sings with the power to push bodies against the wall and the sensitivity to stir the souls that reside within those bodies. Guitarist, Kev Wright plays with a controlled and confrontational ferocity that is nearly catastrophic, as if the devil himself allowed guitar players in that Georgia picking competition, Charlie Daniels made famous. The Rhythm section of Barret Harvey and Johnny Gadeikis provide the steadiest of foundations to the wildness and acrobatic rock flamboyance in every show.

The Righteous Hillbillies are prepared to raise the stakes from entertainment to that old time rock and roll religion. If it doesn’t get you dancing, moving, and singing, you might as well sign your “do not resuscitate” order at the nearest opportunity.

A Perfect Album.
The RIGHTEOUS HILLBILLIES have delivered what could easily be considered one of the best album of 2012 with the musically-perfect TRECE DIABLOS. From the jangly and Mashall Tucker-like opening track BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN, to the Steve Earlesque, dark and haunting closer BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS, this amazing collection of masterfully-performed songs exemplifies all that is glorious and grand in American music. Shades of THE GEORGIA SATELLITES, JASON AND THE SCORCHERS, and even STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN are evident in the music of these working class heroes from the Joliet, Illinois area, but in the end, THE RIGHTEOUS HILLBILLIES are very much their own men, delivering heartfelt, ballsy, and gutsy tunes from their battered hearts of gold. Tough, manly, and brawny songs like 20 POUND HAMMER, LIFE GETS IN THE WAY, and MONEY TRAIN BLUES will have you feeling the sweat and smelling the dirt as you pump your fist in the air, and the perfectly crafted shot-to-the-balls LAST OF THE GOOD OLD BOYS will have you reaching for a PBR and cranking the dial to ten faster than you can say “if that ain’t one of the greatest kick-ass anthems ever written then you can kiss my white ass.”
The RIGHTEOUS HILLBILLIES can twang (ALL OVER NOW) as well as rock (STEEL YARD TRAIN) with the best of them, and what separates the boys from the men, in the end, is an album of this caliber, and a live show that will leave you gasping for breath. This band is major league, is proudly carrying on the torch handed off by the Satellites and the Scorchers, and in my humble opinion, they are just as good and even better.
This is the sort of CD that demands to never leave the car player, and at the same time sets a very high bar for those bands who would proclaim to represent the working, blue-collar fan.
