Album Notes
There have been great jazz trios throughout the wonderful history of jazz, The Wynton Kelly Trio, The Ramsey Lewis Trio and The Three Sounds. The RLJ Trio is the next big thing in jazz trios. Expanding on the traditions of the past, The RLJ Trio plays foot patt’n, swingin’ high quality music.

The trio consists of Rudy Mwongozi, pianist, Larry Johnson, drummer, and bassist, Jim Hankins. All are seasoned musicians, who have performed and recorded as sidemen with many jazz greats; including Lou Rawls, Olu Dara, Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, Chuck Fowler, Hank Crawford, Billy Higgins, 125th St. Band, and many others. Although the group originally came together to work a few one-nighters, it quickly became apparent that the three had a rare and beautiful chemistry.

Two years later, with countless gigs under their belts, the RLJ Trio was official. The trio went into the studio with the concept, "it’s just another gig". There were no pre-arranged arrangements; they just played it from the hip, just as they do when they perform live. Six hours later, "Glory & Grace", the first CD by The RLJ Trio was complete.

The RLJ Trio is committed to bringing its ever-growing audience quality jazz music: Real Live Jazz. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
