"Miss Right Left" is a clever, tongue-in-cheek tribute to classic country songs as they were written by the likes of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash. The chord progression, melody and production of the song are intentionally simple with the driving root notes being on a rhythm electric guitar alongside a chunky acoustic guitar. Soft harmonies give the song a feeling of instant timelessness. The sloppy lead vocal is intended to give an atmosphere of a down-and-out cowboy who is a little bit drunk on whiskey and unrequited love. The lyrics are a continuous play on words, crafted in collaboration with Steve Dodd who possesses an entertaining wit.
