Album Notes
The Snails are an eclectic act specializing in various forms of Jamaican music, blended with ragged 50's rock 'n' roll and the sweet sounds of American soul. The Philadelphia-based band is fronted by Todd Fausnacht on lead guitar, complemented by Tim Hildebrand on rhythm guitar. The driving beats spring from the rhythm section comprised of Josh Parry on drums, Ben Parry on bass, and Kyle Williams on organ. Though Fausnacht's vocals lead the group, it's not uncommon for the voices of all five members to come together in cascading harmony. In early 2012 the Snails toured the northeast U.S. with King Django as his backing band, as well as playing their own set each night. They performed with Stubborn Records artist Rocker T at the recent Stubborn Records 20th Anniversary Party, and traveled the Midwest with Sammy K, formerly of the Brooklyn rocksteady band the Forthrights, in summer 2012. Most recently, they hit the road with King Django again for 28 shows up and down the entire east coast playing a set of their own, followed by a set backing King Django. When the Snails aren't travelling across the eastern U.S., they spend much of their time playing shows in the Philadelphia area. They have supported notable acts such as the Aggrolites, The Slackers, Pilfers, Westbound Train, The Toasters, Bad Manners, Screaming Females, Big D and the Kids Table, The Pomps, John Brown's Body, The Pietasters and many others. The Snails just released their vinyl debut, a new 4-song EP "The River," recorded at Version City and distributed by Stubborn Records as well as a 45 split with Pilfers via Asbestos Records’ Ska Is Dead project. Funding for another split with King Django via Big Tunes and a new 4-song EP are also in the works.
