Watch! Kenneth G. Mills and The Star-Scape Singers Live in Concert
On February 17, 1980, Kenneth Mills conducted The Star-Scape Singers in the last of a series of five sold-out concerts at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Each piece began with the conductor/poet’s charged reading of the poem that originally inspired the music, and his following words unfolded naturally into waves of choral sound. One of the most striking visual elements of the performance was the exceptional rapport between ensemble and conductor. Mr. Mills’ hand gestures were boldly free, yet precise and sensitive, and his expressiveness in conducting was faithfully followed in sound by the Singers.
