We Could Be

Album Notes
"We Could Be" is the first single by The Yaks co-written and recorded with bassist Mike Leon joining drumer Steve Glover and guitarist/singer Dave Lawson. The song was recorded at Lawson's house in late July 2012. As much as The Yaks want to entertain you, they want to be authentic. The lyrics below reflect this desire, which the listener could interpret and apply to any number of situations or relationships. Peace.

We Could Be (lyrics copyright 2012 by David A. Lawson)

I could be anything you’re seeking I could be most anything at all
But it would be pretending I’d be putting on an act
And you would still be guessing where I'm really at

I could say anything to please you I could say most anything at all
But it would be dishonest saying what you want to hear
What would it accomplish to appease your fear?

I could be I could be I could be I could be

I could show you just how much I love you if I tell it like it is
But you show me approval even when I'm out of line
And I don't need friends who will tell me everything is fine
So please can we be open, me for you and you for me
I'm living my life hoping we're not less than we could be

We could be We could be We could be We could be
