Percussionist Thione Diop from Senegal mixes a heady stew of traditional West African music with American, Cuban and Brazilian jazz, creating his own unique flavor of world music. Featured on this CD, his fourth release, are a wide array of West African musicians with deep cultural roots playing both traditional and western instruments.
In this CD, Thione collaborates with Baboulaye Cissoko(kora), Papis N'Diaye(keys), Naby Camara(balaphone), Thierno Kouyate(sax), Ambroise Zinsou(trombone/sax), Saraba Ba(flute) Jeannot Mendy(guitar), Cheikh Ndao(bass), Dara, Abou & Djibi Guisse(xalam), family of Yande Codou Sene: Aida M'Baye(vox), Ganga Sene(vox), Taning Faye(vox). Also, Balla Sidibe(vox), Goundo Cissokho(vox), Pape Modou Diop(percussion), Gora Diop(percussion), Commissair M'Baye(percussion) and Samba Ndokh M'Baye(percussion).
Thione has shared the stage with such noteworthy musicians as Poncho Sanchez, Youssouf Koumbassa, Mamady Keita, Prince Diabate, Gokh Bi System, Max Romeo, and Moustapha Bangoura.
