ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
LORO, the Spanish word for "parrot", is the title of the CD, the guitarist Thomas Hanz and the blind pianist and accordionist Jörg Siebenhaar to publish long-term cooperation in the renowned Tango Ensemble "Un Tango Mas" as a duet. Why LORO? The parrot is for the two instrumentalists the symbol of their interactive, multi-faceted and even cheeky interplay in which each contributes his artistic abilities and tastes from classical and jazz. Like the colorful feathers of a macaw is presented each of the 11 items in another (sound) color plucked from soft to orchestral. Powerful rhythmic "reds" in Chick Corea's Amando's Rhumba and the furious final title La puñalada of pintin Castellanos can be found on this CD as well as the quiet melancholy "blues" by Egberto Gismonti's Agua y vino or Thomas Hanz Luna y Mar. between interlocking and surprising color: color-times exotic as Hanz Inoriente, cheeky, playful in Gismonti Loro. Thomas Hanz and Jörg Siebenhaar succeeded at their first joint production, to find a fine balance between jazz, South American folklore, flamenco, original compositions and improvisation skills, and to connect the various musical facets of emotion, virtuosity and sense of sound to a harmonious whole. The pictures were taken in March 2012 in the Revierton Studios under the direction of engineer Wolfgang Bökelmann. Rubbing shoulders with the colorful names of their donors CD, the two musicians were at the photo shoot for the booklet at Parrot Park Bochum. "Loro" Paul adorns the cover of their CD.
