Dave Joyal / Silent Drive

Those Who Wait are an awesome new rock band. The best part about them is; i can't think of one other band that they sound like, and that's a damn good thing seeing as there are 5000 new "emo/screamo" bands every single day. Seriously, check these dudes out, you can't go wrong!

Pace

Dreamy, spacy, mathy, and excellently crafted
The CD is breaktaking. I get a completely different sound out of the CD than I have from any of their live shows. For that matter, I get something new out of it (the CD) with every successive listen. It's spacy and mathy and everything I look for in an end-of-the-day album.

Where their live shows are invested with this energy and tension that begs to be resolved, this album seems to be that resolution- full and comprehensive, like a realized daydream. Even the uptempo tracks have a liquid quality to them, and the busy drum machine tracks over the symphonic sways sound incredible.

Throughout the album, one can't help but hear influences like the modern pop-click electronica of Radiohead or the jilted rhythyms of math-rock bands such as Drill for Absentee. All this occurs over soaring melodies that dredge up memories of the Blue Wonder Power Milk-era Hooverphonic.

I have only one complaint: after the staggered, complicated ending of the first track, the definitive, heavy entrance of "Solitarily Yours" is somewhat jarring. After that, however, it's smooth sailing.

In its short existence, this album has already earned itself a permanent place amongst my favorite records. I expect to hear many more great things from this trio.

Might be biased...but it was worth the wait!
As the bass player's brother, I have been eagerly awaiting this CD's release. Good things come to those who wait, and there's no question this CD is a good thing. Way to go guys...can't wait for your tour to stop in the Great Lake State!

James

Amazing!
I saw this band live a few months back and they blew me away... they went nuts! I ordered this CD the very next day and I have to say, I think it's pretty amazing. Every time I listen I hear something different, and I've been listening to it every day! The sounds, transitions, and flow are excellent. Not to mention how good the lyrics are. Great job guys! Can't wait to see you live again.

Genius doesn't come 'round that often........
....but folks, the WAIT is over.

Brace yourselves, for you have stumbled upon a great album with great songs and production. Have you ever heard a song that had a drum machine doing 9/8 time? I didn't think so. I think I've made my point. They bring the rock, what can I say?

Diversity is a good thing!
Those Who Wait specialize in a type of enlightened anthemic drone, intensely crunchy and focused like white heat but also gloriously transcendent. Those Who Wait are a smart band -- smart enough to push different buttons than the screamo acts and arena rock-instrumentalists they're perched between. Diversity is a good thing. -- Justin Kownacki (Slendid E-Zine)
