From the Idyllwild, California mountains, this debut album captures the power of 70s metal (Sabbath, Motorhead), the snarl of 80s punk (Minor Threat, Black Flag), the aggression of 90s grunge (Melvins, Nirvana) & the groove of desert rock (Kyuss, QOTSA).

Album Notes
The Place: Idyllwild, California - population 3,874. It stands over five thousand feet above Palm Desert, deep in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County. Not the kind of place you'd expect a band of heavy rocking madmen to hail but all four members proudly call it home.

The Band: THROW THE GOAT - comprised of bassist/lead vocalist Michael Schnalzer (Liquid Wagon, Sick Bastards) drummer Tim Olivier (300 Watt Lust) lead guitarist Brian "Puke" Parnell (Angel Abyss) and rhythm guitarist Johnny Trash (Liquid Wagon, Atomic Soop) - is the first band of its kind to come out of Idyllwild. "Johnny, Tim and I know each other from high school and have played in bands together before." says Mike. "We met Brian 4-5 years ago when he randomly moved to Idyllwild and got a job working at the local liquor store. It wasn't until this past June that the four of us actually played together, and it was just one of those moments that clicked. This is the band we've all wanted to be in for the past decade." [from IE WEEKLY Vol 6 Issue 38 "Band Of The Week" article]

The Story: THROW THE GOAT was created from the ashes of various Southern California rock, punk and metal bands. After only being together a year TTG have played all over the map at some legendary venues (House Of Blues, Whisky A Go-Go, Doll Hut, Double Down Saloon, The Queen Mary, etc etc), shared the stage with an eclectic variety of bands (The Adicts, Prong, D.I., Death By Stereo, Fireball Ministry, It's Casual, Crowned By Fire, Black Oil, Witchburn, etc) and even toured their way down to Costa Rica in February 2012. Six months after releasing their demo, the band began work on its first full length release, BLACK MOUNTAIN. Named after an area of Idyllwild, this debut album features 11 tracks of original material demonstrating the band's mix of influences.

BLACK MOUNTAIN debuts 11 Sept. 2012

"Thank The Metal Heavens that Throw The Goat were formed... This album is just a pure blast from start to finish. It has no hidden messages, just straight in your face great punk rock/stoner metal songs we all need to rock out to time and time again. Alex [Pappas] has done a brilliant job in producing this excellent album... it vibrates brilliantly well when played loud. It’s got a great DIY feel to it as well. It doesn’t feel polished like some major league bands. Just a hard working honest band playing their music the way it’s supposed to be played. Raw, Angry and in your face." [thesludgelord,]

"Throw the Goat brings it with a head banging combination of heavy rock nuance, high energy riffing and subtle punk rock undertones... Raw and unrefined (consider that a compliment), the boys of Throw the Goat seamlessly combine the elements of a number of different genres in their first and aptly named demo, Demo Primero. Give it a listen, give thanks and dont be afraid to Throw the Goat if you catch these guys on their Southern California circuit. 8/10" []
