ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Tim Gaulden began studying Spanish classical guitar in the early 1970's. In the formative early years of his playing, he would spend hours every evening entertaining himself with instrumental pieces he was learning and some that he was beginning to write. In the late 70's he discovered jazz and began playing electric guitar and bass in jazz and fusion bands. Tim also developed a deep love for Celtic music and Bossa Nova Jazz. Tim came full circle in the early 1990's and returned to his first love of acoustic instrumental guitar. Because his music is influenced by many different cultures, Tim wanted his first CD, LATITUDES, to be a collection of original songs with their roots from several different cultures around the world.

While Pearl Squirrel's 2-Step is a musical picture of the squirrels that used to chase each other up and down the trees in his backyard home in Colorado (and is very different from the other songs on the CD), Graps & Leaves, Girl in the Forest and Woodsong have the feel of old england. Mist & Stone, Emerald Isle and Ivywilde takes us through celtic times and regions. Midnight Caravan takes us on a fast night ride through a middle eastern desert while Jake and the Tumbleweed brings us over to the southwestern american high desert. Several other LATITUDES are represented including Tim's current home in albuquerque, new mexico, where Daydreams represents the feeling of seeing over 800 hot air balloons floating in a cool and blue autumn sky during the annual albuquerque international balloon fiesta.
