ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Tina Shafer is origionally from Cleveland Ohio but has been living and writing in New York City for many years. A great supporter of the writer's community in New YorK, she has run the Legendary New York Songwriter's Circle for thirteen years. Home to such artists as Norah Jones, Jesse Harris, Gavin Degraw, Vanessa Carlton and Amos Lee, to name a few. Her work has been written up in BILLBOARD Magazine, WOMEN IN MUSIC,
THe Cleveland Plaindealer and the VIILLAGE VOICE and SPIN MAGAZINE.
" I was frustrated with the way the business lacks support for the songwriter, I wanted a venue that would educate the public to how a song can make an artist, can make a career"
" No matter where this business is going, it will always start with the song" . "There is no replacement for unique ideas and the special charisma that comes from a great writer and performer".
She has also worked as a writer for many other top selling artists...Celine DIon
Bette Midler (The First Wive's Club) Billy Porter, Sheena Easton, and Phoebe Snow.
She has put out two of her own records on CDBABY.
"The Backyard Sky" is dedicated to her late brother Doug Shafer
and "Promise To Eve" is dedicated to anyone who has the courage to get through life...
Thank God for the music.

AWESOME! This CD is something that every person needs to hear
Beautiful music from a beautiful person inside and out...This is a CD you are bound to cherish.

An artist's artist
There is something about Tina's voice that gets to me. It is so familiar and yet it is distinctively her's. She sings with so much heart it sometimes hurts (in a good way!). As a singer/songwriter I don't enjoy listening to lots of other female singer/songwriters. Tina is someone I can listen to forever. Kevin Bents once again has masterfully produced.

With Promises To Eve, her second album, Tina has managed to surpass the beauty and integrity of Backyard Sky. These songs go straight to the heart with a sure-fire combination of great songs, artful production and a true voice. You know she believes what she sings and you in turn believe. This album is comfort in the storm. I love it.

Quality production, contemporary vocals, but lacks fizzle
Promsisses to Eve background theme is a well played team of gifted musicians. Each track coasts from verse to chorus without a hitch and is a real pleasure to journey with. The vocals sytling of Tina Shafer is again quality musicianship, with beautiful backgournd vocal arrangements. The lyrical content was a bit cliche, and could use some "street" cred and experience. It sounds overall like a well produced studio album, but lacks a bit of star quality fizzle.........I'll will keep it for a rainy day!

Honest, reflective and inspiring!
Promises to Eve is a passionate, honest expression which sets Tina Shafer apart from many other artists today. In particular, "Gone But Not Forgotten" evokes a feeling of the romantic era, as the piano churns mysteriously beneath the text. "Above the Band' is a joy to hear - well constructed with a lovely message. There is a sense that she has found her voice artistically, but will continue searching for even more as she writes and performs.

Great music from start to finish
I love this album. I initially tried to compare it to "Backyard Sky," but found "Promises to Eve" something different, something that I didn't expect from Tina. The sound is more progressive and complex, the lyrics connecting with my emotions. I especially like "Who Are We Now"--I can close my eyes and listen to it over and over. This cd is captivating. Thanks, Tina.

Tina is a promise to all of us
Why add a review as there are already a lot of people told you that this is a great album? I think Tina should know that abroad her music will also be played. I like both her albums, which CD Baby enabled me to buy. Music which enjoys us, like Celine or Carly did, but in her own way. I hope this album will sell a lot so her star will rise.

Once again, Tina has done it!
Once again, Tina has done it! I have known Tina all of our lives and it never fails to amaze me what a wonderful musician and songwriter she is. This CD met and exceeded my expectations. Although my favorite song is Who Are We Now, I enjoy listening to all of them. The message of the lyrics speaks to me personally and the music is such that I find myself singing along. The songs are very upbeat and lift my spirits. I can't wait to share it with all of my friends and family.

Astonishing depth, really brave lyrics. Beautiful music
IT is apparent after several listenings to this fine record that this artist is a real survivor. The song "Gone But Not Forgotten" Really resonates in me. I am an ex-addict and I felt "Gone" for so many years until I went into recovery. This song was so powerful and hopeful. Thank you TIna for sharing your deepest thoughts with so many listeners. It is the small acts of kindness that fill a pool. This record is one of those acts of kindness.

A beauty
Tina continues to inspire by her hard work and tenacity. Her skills as a songwriter and community builder (check out the songwriter series in NYC that she has been organizing for 10+ years now) are as unique as they are helpful to a generation of writers. With Promises To Eve, Tina continues her fearless search in
discovering further her truth and beauty.
