THE TOMMY COOMES BAND BIOGRAPHY(Updated 2.3.09)
The Tommy Coomes Band is a team of 12 professional artists and songwriters formed to facilitate new forms of worship and evangelism. They have recorded twelve (12) CD’s and ministered around the world with Billy Graham, Franklin Graham, Promise Keepers, Chosen Women, and Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusades. They also conduct seminars each year to train and equip church leaders and musicians.

Tommy Coomes - Vocals
Tommy is the leader and founder of the Tommy Coomes Band. He was a pioneer of contemporary Christian music in the 70’s as a member of Love Song, and was the Creative Director at Maranatha! Music in the 80’s and 90’s. He has done one solo album entitled, “Love Is The Key” and recently started a new work to encourage and equip the next generations of music makers, called “Music Compass.”
Bill Batstone - Guitar and vocals
Bill is a gifted and prolific songwriter and artist whose music is loved worldwide. For over twenty years you have heard his vocal, instrumental and songwriting talents on numerous recordings with a variety of artists, such as Crystal Lewis, Cheri Keaggy, Big Tent Revival, Randy Stonehill, Mark Heard, Richie Furay, Maranatha Music worship albums and Promise Keepers. He has two solo projects: “While The Door Is Open” and “A Little Broken Bread” on the Calvary Chapel Music label.
Bill is involved regularly in worship services and record productions with Greg Laurie at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, CA in addition to his solo performances. He and his wife Kathy live in Southern California with their son Mark and daughter Laura.
John & Anne Barbour - Vocals
Whether leading worship or performing, John and Anne remind us through their music that truth is internalized through relationships; first through our relationship with God, and then through our relationships with others.
John’s background is in music and missions. He worked with high school and college students for five (5) years through a unique band called, “Wings Of Light” which used music to bring the Gospel into public schools all over the world. Anne started out as a solo artist on Spirit records at the age of 16 and soon discovered that her talent for expressing herself through songwriting was going to be one of the main focuses of her ministry.
John and Anne have traveled the world since then as a part of the crusades of Billy Graham, Franklin Graham and Greg Laurie and many others. They have done five (5) CD’s as a duo.
Glen Holmen - Bass
Glen Holmen is from Albuquerque, NM and has been working as a bass player in since 1982. As a recording and touring musician, he has played with diverse acts as Steve Taylor, Sun 60, Crystal Lewis, Rickie Lee Jones, and Beck. After 30 years of ministry in thousands of churches, his journey has taken him through all 50 states and over 50 foreign countries.
Jeff Lams - Keyboards
As one the finest keyboard players in Los Angeles, Jeff has toured and recorded with such artists as Phil Keaggy, Benny Hester and Donna Summer. He recently completed a year on Broadway as the Musical Director of the Frank Wildhorn musical "The Civil War."
Jeff has arranged and programmed many of the Maranatha! Music and Vineyard recordings and is a pioneer in the use of electronic instruments, and design and development of MIDI software.
Linda McCrary-Fischer - Vocals
Linda began singing with her family’s gospel group, "The McCrary’s" at the young age of five. In the 1970’s they ministered to young people throughout the United States, worked with Katherine Kuhlman and appeared in the Billy Graham film, "The Lost Generation." Numerous records and tours followed with Andrae Crouch, Michael Jackson, Sly Stone, Eddie Kendricks, and others.
She does vocal arrangements and sings regularly for television shows such as Jamie Fox, Sister Sister, Good News and movies such as The Lion King and recently finished "The Book" project for the 700 Club. Linda continues to work with her family at Joy Fellowship in Tujunga, California.
Christine Miller, born and raised in San Francisco, California, began exhibiting a love for singing and acting at the age of 3. Christine grew up singing music in church, acting in local TV and theater productions and eventually moved to Los Angeles to continue pursuing these passions. One of her first notable performances was touring with Walt Disney as the voice of "Belle" in "Disney's Symphonic Fantasy" international stage production.
She is a successful session singer, live vocalist and worship leader, working with international artists such as John Tesh, Bobby Caldwell, The Tommy Coomes Band, Tommy Walker and Andrae Crouch.
David Owens – Drums
David is a freelance drummer living in Los Angeles CA. He has played with artists like Thomas Dolby, Peter White and The Righteous Brothers and his studio drumming has given him many album, movie and commercial jingle credits.
In 1992 David gave his life to Christ and has played or recorded with many Christian artists including Fernando Ortega, Sara Groves, Bebo Norman, Crystal Lewis, Cheri Keaggy, Tommy Walker, and Paul Baloche.
He has played for Billy and Franklin Graham Crusades, Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusades and Maranatha! Worship Leader Workshops. From 2000-2003 he performed 900 shows as the house drummer for the Los Angeles production of The Lion King at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood.
Alfie Silas-Durio - Vocals
Alfie is an accomplished singer who has appeared and recorded with Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Barbara Streisand. She is currently devoting her time exclusively to ministry. Several years ago she joined the ever-popular "Andrae Crouch Singers," traveling and ministering throughout the world.
Alfie’s Christian recordings include Bebe and Cece Winans, Carmen, Leon Patillo, Denise Williams, Helen Baylor, First Call, Sandra & Andrae Crouch.
She and her husband Michael Durio are a dynamic songwriting team; they have two children, Chad and Christa, and live in Sylmar, California.
Marsha Skidmore – Vocals
Marsha Skidmore has been involved in music ministry for most of her life. She is a gifted soloist, songwriter and worship leader.
Marsha’s most recent recordings and live performances have been alongside artists Fernando Ortega, Tommy Walker, Paul Overstreet, and Andre Crouch. Her singing has also included several recordings in film and television in the Los Angeles area as well as projects with David Clydesdale and Word Records.
Marsha’s songwriting includes a new theme song and vocal recording of “Where Does My Help Come From” for World Vision International in partnership with their Children in Crisis sponsorship ministry.
When not on tour with the band, Marsha is also involved in solo concerts throughout North America and leading worship at her local church.
Bob Somma - Guitar
Bob Somma is a professional guitarist, producer and seasoned studio veteran in the Los Angeles area. His credits include commercial television, movie soundtracks and many artists’ projects.
Bob is the band’s Musical Director and has produced four of their CD’s. He has been playing guitar and bass in worship bands for the last 20 years.
