Album Notes
From vocals and keyboards at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, TX., to singing the national anthem for the Texas Rangers at Ranger Stadium, Toncie has played them all - concerts, tours, musical theater, studios, and churches. Performer, composer, and arranger, Toncie has traveled extensively around the world as a performer and has worked as a vocalist on several projects including commercial work for Warner Brothers, "Rosewood", and Thomas Young of "Three Mo' Tenors" fame.

Her debut solo CD "ECLECTIC" is a mixture of her own compositions and arrangements of Negro spirituals, gospel, contemporary Christian and Christian jazz. "I wanted to show that even though I am Christian I enjoy several types of music, and that a religious message can come through more than just one genre of musical style."

A classically trained vocalist and pianist Toncie blends her training with a soulful sound, and her love of jazz to create her own unique style. She is also committed to keeping the performance of the Negro spiritual alive, " the music of a peoples is one of the best ways for them to remember their history."

This album is fun, meditative, reflective and interesting. It was written with "everyone finding something they like" in mind.

Thanks, Toncie, for reminding me why I love the flavor of gospel and spirituals.
This CD is a great collection of music from the Black experience. It tells the story in a very traditional way with an instrument--the voice--that conveys liberation to all who hear. It reminds me of the experience of singing, when I first believed that music could really make a difference in my life and the lives of others! Thanks!

Different, Refreshing, Delightful, From the Heart
Not the usual on the market today, which is a good thing. Good arranging and composing, great voice with genuine emotion. I encourage anyone looking for something different to give it a try.
