Tony affectionately refers to his songs as “Tony Toons,” but don’t let the name belie the depth of his work – he approaches each composition with diligence and devotedness, striving for inspiration in each note, word and sound. “There have been times when I’ve written a song in five minutes: lyrics, musical arrangements, everything just comes to me,” Tony says. Then there are some songs that can take several months or even longer to really be complete. Sometimes I hear the music first, the melody and the rhythm. But other times the lyrics come to me first. I draw inspiration from reading, listening to a speaker or a minister, or from an experience, a vision, from sitting at the piano and messing around. I’m a writer who really believes that I can write about anything, and that people will get a significant message from it.”
Every song is diverse, with influences stemming not only from gospel but also jazz, blues, country, pop and classical compositions. Tony’s songs are messages of love with the intent to impact lives wholly, heralding peace, happiness, unification, restoration, reverence and praise.
When not on the road touring, you can find Tony serving in the church, the community and in school as a musician, teacher and conductor. Tony’s mission is to positively influence hearts and souls with his distinct, eclectic sound.
